Irony
The community members of New Brunswick are the heroes of the world. They have the most experience. They are courageous dreamers, they work hard for what they get, they can feed 500+ people, they have great organizational skills, they have impeccable interpersonal skills, they raise families, they volunteer their time (since many of them are victims of wage theft), they act as their own source of protection, they aren’t afraid to ask questions, they know two languages and still work hard to perfect their grammar, they are familiar with two cultures and always get the job done right. These people are leaders. So, I ask the same question, why are they not getting the jobs? Why do they always end up working minimum wage jobs, America? Clearly we are undervaluing these individuals. If it’s not obvious yet, clearly I have a problem with people who live their whole lives not having to worry about the next bill getting paid, praying away sicknesses, how to make the food last a month and then get angry at the people who do have to worry about said things. I have a problem with any form of generalization. I have an immense problem with people who directly link one’s social and economic status to education. How powerful is it that the existence of these people have contributed to my education? The people of New Brunswick have done more for me than the person who is trying hard to deport immigrants and stop the welfare movement.
