When it’s November and the weather is above 70F you do what you gotta do - ignore the “rule” for awase kimono and go with what feels comfortable. This kimono is a very thin antique/vintage hitoe that I recently widened and added almost 10cm on each side! It feels like a dream to wear it now! The obi was converted to tsuke obi from unwearable Nagoya - now it got a 2nd chance and completely wearable again!! It is not ro, although at first glance it might look like it. On our way back from New York, @naomi_kimono_asobi and I were just casually chatting about starting some kind of weekly casual kimono challenge. After brainstorming, Fudangi Friday was born! The challenge is primarily posted on Immortal Geisha FB group and forum, but there is no reason why it can’t be on Instagram too! So join us in wearing a casual kimono on Fridays and posting about it! The only rules are to tag it #fudangifriday , use a casual kimono and be comfortable and have fun! . This is one of my favorite vintage hitoe kimono that I own. It’s extremely thin and has an interesting texture, not to mention gorgeous roses! For this outfit I went with a roses theme - the obi has roses too plus my leather rose pin. I widened this kimono a while back and in the process discovered that the sleeves hid a lot of fabric too!
