"Why does my car smell like gas?" The culprit here was rotted fuel lines. The actual leak was difficult to get a picture of because the point of the leak was above the gas tank but this is a shot of the lines right before they get to the leak. Pretty rotted.... The repair can go a couple of ways here. Sometimes the lines can be repaired by cutting out the rot and replacing sections. But that's generally a temporary repair because the old lines continue to rot. So that's the difference between rubber stainless steel braided line (left) and PTFE stainless steel braided line (right).
