Rome Piazza della Repubblica 1985. Another view taken in the arcade. The red sign with the letter M is for the Rome Metro, the underground trains. This line was built in the sixties, and there were many delays caused by the complaints of local residents about vibrations of the tunneling machinery, and also by archeological finds of ancient Roman remains, especially in the area around the Piazza della Repubblica. This was memorably depicted in a scene from the film ’Roma’ by Frederico Fellini.
