Scary. Unknown, too. He recalls his first moments in Spira, and he’s suddenly feeling an icy chill run through both his arms, to end in goosebumps. One similar feeling to the one she may be referring to did pervade him, back then; being alone and vulnerable, suddenly conscious of the thousand dangers behind the corner, and lost in a foreign place. He still kinda is, with one big difference– And although the dream of returning home fades away with each day that passes, the idea of being able to explore such a world with her still intrigues him. All is a surprise – and a following sea of questions arising with each new thing to discover; but she’s been that careful and posed in explaining most of it to him, and believing in his story from the get-go, that staying by her side is just the most natural thing he can do. What he wants to do.
He looks at her and smiles, before something forces him to lower his gaze to the ground. Yet Yuna’s tone has been serious, so he matches hers to assure her, quietly. Those words may sound flimsy, but he thinks he gets her, and what she’s saying. Spira sure is more than the bunch of small huts in Besaid island now, isn’t it ? ❛ Don’t worry about that. I promised. And I’ll make sure it stays that way, keep you out harm’s way… ❜
❛ Hey, once this whole deal with Sin is over and you finally defeat it… wouldn’t it be nicer than this, to travel around Spira ? A less scary one. You’d deserve it for bringing forth the ‘Calm’, was it–? ❜
Together like this, just the two of them amidst the rose-colored backdrop of the warm, Mi'hen sunset is all she ever wanted out of this life, she thinks. Not even the finest sphere could capture how the light and his sun-bleached locks created a halo ‘round his crown. She ensued she would never forget--- not until her last breath.
They both lose their nerve at the same time, looking instead to an errant cicada beginning its evening song. He would keep her out of harm’s way, he says, just as his father did for her own.
“ That... would be wonderful, ” she hides her laugh behind a hand, despite it all. “ The Calm always brings more travelers out onto the roads. ” Yuna smiles, although it pales in comparison to the sun’s own. “ Day after day is a celebration of life. There's music, and dancing, even the ferries are full! ”
‘A less-scary Spira,’ was the last parting gift of her father. Even a year of childhood free of fear was the greatest blessing one could give-- what she could give. Yuna looks away from the burning sun, from the memory in her mind’s eye, and grazes fingertips over the movie sphere in her furisode’s pocket.
“ It may be nothing like your Zanarkand, but... I would like you to see it, too; Spira-- as she was meant to be. ”
