Mage of time analasys pls?
Hey, lucky you getting to be the first person to answer after my hiatus. Mage of time…
They like to think they know the ins and outs of Time right off the bat. Who wouldn’t, constantly aware of the passage of time as they are? Schedules and time estimates feel like second nature to them, and perhaps a rather stressful second nature at that. Indeed, Time seems to rule their lives, and so they feel if anyone ought to know it best it must be the person so constantly subjected to it.
When they start to grow though, it occurs to them that maybe they might need to figure out a little more, as Time isn’t quite so cut-and-dry as it’s passing. Their land may show them things deteriorating, things growing, and how much things change in a little time, or a lot of time. Maybe their consorts stubbornly insisted on building on top of things they had already built as something buried their old homes, and delving deeper would give a rather literal display of the passage of time in their culture. Whatever the case, as they develop they learn that past, present, and future are all important, rather than focusing on what defines the present.
Once they HAVE grown, they fill a rather nifty role for their team, if they choose to take it! They could easily use knowledge of the past to fill in for the future, and guide their friends accordingly. No one would know better than they that there are no original events in paradox space, and pick out the patterns accordingly with ease. Most importantly though, they’d know exactly what they were to do and when, not like some schedule was dictating it, but just because that’s when it was to be done. They would know which frogs they might eventually interact with, aiding the Space player with ease, alongside the Knight if there should happen to be one.
Powerwise, they mostly just have a complete and innate knowledge of the timeline. Honestly, not that impressive. It’s what they’re meant to do themselves with that knowledge that’s important, and their ability to sift through that knowledge for information. Unlike Seers, it’s not like they get answers to questions when they ask, they just already have all the info.
As far as writing them, let them be wrong about things at the start! Like, a lot of things. Most Mages are using their ‘knowledge’ to rationalize their actions at the start, though said actions are more based in emotion and instinct than actual knowledge. Outside that, have fun!
