“Neither have I. Not a real friend. All of my friends want to be friends with my father. I think my betrothed wants to be friends with father.” He shook his head, “It’s not to have a friend....you were talking about me right? I’m your friend? Or were you talking about being friends with someone else because I understand that too, there’s a reason I don’t have friends. I don’t know the reasons but they exist.” He would have been better off saying nothing at all and living in a blissful peace where Eldyn was his best friend.

          “I want what all men want in the middle of the night.” He smiled at him, walking through the door, “I want to drink and contemplate. Have a conversation with you, discuss where life will take us. And then we can see what happens. Maybe I’ll drink so much that you grow tired of me and throw me out.” He ran his fingers over his hair, “unless you want me to leave.” Valarr offered another smile, he had neither wine nor ale with him but he had yet to see chambers that didn’t have a pitcher of something. Valarr sat down, comfortable though fully prepared to leave. Curse his late night, off the cuff decisions that he spent too long thinking about.
