Want to teach a lesson or get a point across? Be direct. Don't beat around the bush, don't sugarcoat... Be as assertive as possible. And only be an asshole when you NEED to be. Like when defending your beliefs. But defending your beliefs DOES NOT give you the right or reason to insult, patronize or make someone feel like shit because they don't believe what you believe. Period.
Besides Pretty Girl Rock, one of my kids brought in The Lazy Song. So we played it Friday right at the end of class.
We did a lesson on who you are as a person and I decided to have the kids bring in songs that they feel like describe them. I've had Pretty Girl Rock stuck in my head since then. If you're wondering if we just had music time in class, yes. Yes, we did. BUT, my kids can tell you all about theme now and it's totally transferable to short stories. :)
