re: artfight random ocs "historical arcanists of capso" mask skull man... tell me about him.. is he a necromancer?
He IS a necromancer!! >:) actually like my universe's version of strahd! he's he first (formal) necromancer, as all the historical arcanists are more or less the first wizards ever, they managed to harness divine power and imbue it into material components to create arcana. im sure some ppl have practiced arcana in small ways beforehand but this guy is the first to do it on paper and do it big LOL the modern legacy of this is that Capso is run on a Mageocracy, with an archmage for each school (the BBEG of my campaign i just wrapped up!!)
as with wizard hubris, like 75% of these guys end with blowing up via their own experiments or going missing or god knows what. mr mask skull man was a composer (...phantom of the opera) and kinda borrowing the strahd story line, composed an opera to woo a girl he liked, who fell for another man, and in an effort to bid her back, he harnessed the magic he learned from necromancy and accidentally turned himself into a vampire (he's the first man-made vampire) and doomed them all to the Shadowfell.
at least, that's what the stories say. the city of capso will tell you adamantly that he accidentally necromanced himself, his object of affection, and his rival into oblivion via magic pipe bomb. nobody REALLY knows
