Around this same time last year, I was preparing to travel to Timor-Leste to be the artist in residence with the Boneca de Ataúro in East Timor during the summer of 2016. I had absolutely no idea what fantastic adventures and wonderful new friends awaited me... In the spirit of recollection and appreciation, I would like to now share this collection of video clips from my time with the Boneca:
* Returning from Makili via the mountain route * Playing with the camera at Manu Koko-Rek * St. Peter's Festival in Makili * Footage of "Estocástico" at Fundação Oriente * Two mermaids of Adara performing with Boneca de Ataúro at Fundação Oriente. Choreography by Jen Shyu. Footage by David Palazón. * Maun João making sheets of canna lilly paper * Rama and Lorosae (details) * Singing contemporary and traditional songs from Makili during farewell party
And please help ensure the future of the Boneca de Ataúro through their fundraising campaign here: https://www.generosity.com/community-fundraising/boneca-de-atauro--4 (Plus you’ll get to see the amazing, stop motion animation, short film by David Palazón!)
