It looks like a more expansive look at Gothard's abuse that's been filmed over a really long period of time. I'd definitely be interested in seeing it, I wonder when the project will be finished and if it will be on any streaming platforms/in any theaters.

The documentary about the Hutterite photographer from the other ask is called Queer Hutterite: Misfit on the Colony. It’s a Canadian doc - was nominated for a bunch of Canadian Screen Awards. The guy’s name is Kelly Hofer.

Ok so I know for most of my followers this won’t mean anything but any of y’all who’ve been here awhile know that I have a few religious comfort documentaries that I’ve seen a minimum of 20 times and that the 2015 doc A Courtship is my solid #2

I caught it on some obscure doc channel on hulu today and did my annual checkup on the subjects (Kelly, the main subject, and the Wrights, her ‘spiritual’ family) and it looks like for the first time there’s actually something new. The Wrights have decided to go Rodrigues and travel around to tent revivals and Kelly, after SEVENTEEN years, has moved out!! On her OWN!!!!

Kelly was 32 I think when the doc was filmed and as far as I can tell, still hasn’t had success with courtship/surrogate ‘spiritual’ parents so I’m hoping this means she’s taking a more proactive role in her happiness (she is 38 now and less public on social media than the Wrights).

Ron Wright’s 2 daughters are still living with him and will be traveling with him and his wife. It looks like they will be living in a pull-behind camper as opposed to an RV. As to what they’ll be doing while they do this, I can’t really tell. The only thing I know is it’s not singing or performing like some others we know, and he’s posted one picture of them helping with baptisms.
