Watching a documentary about Christian Courtship where the dads find the husbands for the daughters and
Given this dude’s track record I think he’s gonna have a house full of unmarried women if he can’t get one married in 7 years
Ok so I know for most of my followers this won’t mean anything but any of y’all who’ve been here awhile know that I have a few religious comfort documentaries that I’ve seen a minimum of 20 times and that the 2015 doc A Courtship is my solid #2
I caught it on some obscure doc channel on hulu today and did my annual checkup on the subjects (Kelly, the main subject, and the Wrights, her ‘spiritual’ family) and it looks like for the first time there’s actually something new. The Wrights have decided to go Rodrigues and travel around to tent revivals and Kelly, after SEVENTEEN years, has moved out!! On her OWN!!!!
Kelly was 32 I think when the doc was filmed and as far as I can tell, still hasn’t had success with courtship/surrogate ‘spiritual’ parents so I’m hoping this means she’s taking a more proactive role in her happiness (she is 38 now and less public on social media than the Wrights).
Ron Wright’s 2 daughters are still living with him and will be traveling with him and his wife. It looks like they will be living in a pull-behind camper as opposed to an RV. As to what they’ll be doing while they do this, I can’t really tell. The only thing I know is it’s not singing or performing like some others we know, and he’s posted one picture of them helping with baptisms.
I’m.... this is amazing.
currently 2 mins into A Courtship. i would like to bare knuckle fight the dad.
I’m sure I’m not the first one to say this, but I’m almost positive that Ron and Kelly have hooked up. Or wanted to. They’re so creepy when together.

A Courtship
The next several months passed in relative peace for the little Javert family. As Aimée grew, she proved her mother right time and time again: she was her father’s daughter in more ways than one. When all Cosette’s best efforts failed to quiet her, Philippe’s voice alone could do the trick. He had perhaps not changed terribly, but she had watched him become softer around their little girl, nearly unrecognizable.
Valjean did not visit again until the late summer; the baby was five months old and quite adorably fat (at least in Cosette’s eyes); she often walked into town with her, sometimes bringing a midday meal for her husband and his men, and everyone in town was besotted with the child, even if many of them feared—even hated—Inspector Javert.
By then, Cosette had decided that her father’s loneliness was quite bad for him indeed. There must be something she could do for him beyond constantly writing him and sometimes inviting him for an awkward three- or four-day visit. She decided that the solution was Madeline. The girl had become slightly more open (of course, when the master was not at home) to speaking of Cosette’s father. It seemed to Cosette that the girl was genuinely fond of him, and even if it would never be a love match, she would make a good companion for Valjean in his later years.
At seventeen, a mother herself now, Cosette was hardly fishing for a stepmother; she wanted only to see her father happy. Besides, if he had a household of his own, perhaps Rue Plumet again, he could sometimes look after Aimée and see her without darkening his son-in-law’s door.
