Not for the first time, Pico finds sleep hard to come by. Not that he’s been trying too hard the past few nights; with the dreams he’s been having lately, it’s almost more restful to stay awake. Almost. It still takes its toll, and now he’s struggling to keep his eyes open. How long has it been, exactly? Maybe if he closes his eyes for a second...

No. Don’t do that, stupid. His once-drooping head snaps up and he blinks wildly for a few seconds. He glances over at Merc, who watches him carefully.

“Sorry. Didn’t sleep well.” Or at all. It’s technically not a lie, though. “You were sayin’?”

“He’s prob-prob’ly my favorite Pico... we’re good friends, I think.” He chuckles, the hand holding his drink tilting dangerously. He’s going to spill that if he’s not careful. “Didja know we’re married? Insane, right? Never thought I’d get married... ‘specially not to a guy like him.” Judging by the awe in his tone, he doesn’t mean that negatively. “Ugh...”

He sets his glass down.

“He’s gonna be so... so pissed. Do-don’t tell ‘im I was drinkin’ again, aight? Don’t need to get my ass kicked a second time.”
