En este vídeo de Funky Jet puede apreciarse perfectamente el buen pulido del juego, que incluye diseños divertidos, sonido y fondos trabajados y animaciones extra que le dan un extra de calidad, como las pantallas con lluvia o los ataques especiales. Un must de los 90.
Funky Jet Magnífico juego repleto de acción y buenas animaciones. Algo así como una evolución del concepto plataformero del Snow Bros y Tumblepop. La diferencia residía en que aquí, más que saltar entre una plataforma y otra, podrías volar entre las mismas, deslizándote a lo largo de toda la pantalla con tus jet-packs. Esto le daba al juego gran libertad de movimiento y una sensación de jaleo constante, con cantidad de enemigos intentando atizarte por todas partes. Además de esto se incluían objetos inanimados que podías lanzar o hacer explotar. Vamos, que el juego estaba de p*** madre. Poca gente lo recuerda porque sólo pudo jugarse, que yo sepa, en los recreativos de Rivas que estaban entre la plaza de Madrid y la plaza de Aragón. No muy lejos del Instituto Las Lagunas.
In today's installment of Arcade Funhouse we get to see Pembroke get down and funky in Funky Jet. A game that lets you punch post apocalyptic West Side Story Rejects.
Selected backgrounds from Mitchell's Funky Jet, released in 1992. This was a game that tried to capitalize on Mitchell's Pang/Buster Bros. style of gameplay, but with the twist of not busting bubbles but instead punching enemies off the screen. In reality, it's far too repetitive with too little strategy and variety to be that enjoyable; it did, however, have some nice backgrounds which were stored as wide tilemaps, so wide I had to break them into multiple images for displaying here.
As you advanced from stage to stage, the background would scroll to the right, revealing a different section of the area you were in. Due to a design oversight, you never saw the very end of the background, which means in normal gameplay you never saw anything past the sign with the face or, in the final stage, you didn't get to see the chair and camera for the boss you were actually fighting.
