#FUNNERFRIDAYS: Hold Still - Slow Magic

This new cut from Slow Magic's upcoming album makes me wish I had chromesthesia. I can imagine the opening yielding rich purples and blues before detonating red bursts of sonic bliss when the song hits its proper stride. "Hold Still" might be the best summer evening primer I've heard this year. Oh, and there's a midway drop to pianos, watery beats and warped voices that is absolute paradise.

Slow Magic's new effort, How To Run Away, will be out 9-Sep-2014 on Downtown Records and he's visiting Toronto on 28-Sep-2014 at The Garrison.

#FUNNERFRIDAYS: Swimming (KwikFiks Remix) - New Hands

Every golden beat of this track recalls that February summer on the Gold Coast circa 2012. Packed white sand, bare soles only and fin hucks above the lip, taking sets on the head and Sunday Sessions. This remix has primed me for our Canadian version of summer - one of dock parties and our own wanting beaches without proper waves, alas. Thanks for keeping those blue pulses fresh in my mind New Hands and KwikFiks.

#FUNNERFRIDAYS: Complete - Heavenly Beat

Some steel drums and every other sound we associate with the warmth that should come with the big bright burning fucking star above us is captured here. "Complete" is the first track for FUNNER FRIDAYS in forever, which is about how long this winter's lasted. There's a thaw coming though and it seems like it's been personally delivered by Heavenly Beat.

#FUNNERFRIDAYS: Crying My Heart Out - Young Galaxy

My favourite thing about Young Galaxy is that they get my feet moving and my heart feeling. That sounds kind of sugary but so does their brand of dance. And I like my dance with some lyrical quality too, which Young Galaxy do just fine. All in all, they make some terrific Friday music. Get your good friends, get your good shoes and get your good drinks. Have a time and let "Crying My Heart Out" pulse your shoulders - it'll move to your feet and all will be well. As always, stay fun.

#FUNNERFRIDAYS: Whichever Way You'll Have It - New Hands I asked for help with a tune for #FUNNERFRIDAYS then I got to yapping with some friends and the New Hands show tomorrow night came up and then a dim light bulb switched on because all light bulbs are dim on Friday aftys. These gents do a lot of great things with groove, beats and Spence's voice is pretty damn smooth, wouldn't you say? This isn't the type of foot-punishment that FUNNER FRIDAYS usually has but it'll go perfect with your evening get togethers and it'll surely prime you for stellar show tomorrow night. Rad, and as always...have too much fun.

Next week I'll over it and onto providing updates for all sections regularly. One of the most suffering has been #FUNNERFRIDAYS. Today's cut is "Pretty Boy" by Young Galaxy x Peaking Lights.
