Stranger Things 5 Rewrite Fic Discussion

Continuing the conversation on Kali and her friends, I was wondering which party members you would like to see interacting with each of Kali’s friends. No poll for this post, I would love to hear any ideas you all have or any characters you’d really like to see interact with Kali’s friends in the comments or my dms and inbox are always open!

If you haven’t seen my earlier posts on Kali, I decided that she will have seen the news coverage of the murders and “earthquake” in Hawkins and decided to help Jane, using her powers to help she and her friends sneak into Hawkins. Later in the story while Kali is with El and the party fighting the final battle, Kali’s crew and the other outsiders of the group (Argyle, Vickie, Chance, Mr. Clarke, etc.) will form a B Team to try to protect the people of Hawkins and minimize casualties as the main party is focused on Vecna and the Mind Flayer. So that would probably look like Mick and Argyle each driving their respective vans with a few fighters each, going around Hawkins to take down monsters and provide civilians safe transport to the safe house. I’m thinking Lucas would want Erica to stay back to protect her, convincing her by telling her he needs her to keep things running smoothly there with all the scared and confused people coming in (you just know she runs that safe house like the navy.) Vickie could provide medical care with the supplies they have in stock, Mr. Clarke can explain the science of what is happening, and Chance can help the religious folks understand in their own terms if that makes sense.

Anyway that is what purpose they will serve for the party later on, but in between their arrival and the formation of the B team, who do you want to see Kali’s friends interacting with? This could be a small group of characters or a pair you think could have an interesting dynamic. Personally, I’ve been giggling at the concept of Mike being in absolute awe of Axel’s mohawk, but of course Axel probably would not appreciate a nerdy suburban boy staring at him, likely assuming its coming from a place of judgement not admiration. I could see Max maybe looking up to Mick as a fellow tomboy? If Mick and Dottie are a couple (go vote on my recent poll!) then I think it would be cute to have at least like a subtle moment of recognition between them and Robin and Vickie. Also with that, maybe showing some similarities between Dottie and Funshine’s friendship and Robin and Steve’s? I think Dustin would be fascinated by Kali’s powers because they’re so different from El’s. Maybe Lucas could bond with Funshine as someone who understands what it’s like to be even further othered by society as a “freak” while also experiencing discrimination as a black man. I think in general Kali’s friends would better understand Lucas’s perspective in S4, where his friends are content with, even proud of their labels as outcasts and freaks while he is tired of being bullied because unlike Mike and Dustin, Lucas was never just bullied for being a nerd, going back to the beginning of S1 their childhood bullies called him Midnight and it’s clear that by S4 Lucas isn’t just tired of being bullied, he’s tired of dealing with racism. (I have a whole post on Lucas coming it’s just so hard to fit all of my thoughts in tumblr’s character limit) Anyway, of course along with them meeting the party and Kali reuniting with her sister, I’m sure there would be some moments with Kali’s friends seeing El again, like Funshine still calling her Miss Jane (or maybe Axel still calling her Shirley Temple lol). But of course, I’m just spit ballin here.
