get to know your mutuals!
tagged by @skintnminted thank you so much!
what is the origin of your blog name? It was a lurking blog for a while so I just gave it a name based on a saying I used to like about living in the moment. I just never changed it, so nothing thrilling!
what’s your “I will always order this” food? It’s more a flavour profile, I aim for dishes that promise to be extremely spicy. It’s never spicy enough though and I have been known to cart my own hot sauces around to restaurants.
what’s your overused emoji? Definitely the red heart.
what’s your current comfort show/movie/book? I don’t have a comfort show currently but my all time comfort show is House. You know I am in a dark place when I rewatch all 700 seasons.
song you’ve had on repeat this week? I’m still on my Geese - Au Pays du Cocaine replay run.
what’s the last thing you hyperfixated on? The same things I have been fixating on for years and years: The Libertines and collecting perfume.
what’s an oddly specific thing that brings you joy? Finding actual Victorian garbage in antique stores. Picking up two hundred year old clay pipe stems on the shore of the Thames. The Tower Bridge, my beloved. Vintage and antique lockets, especially that have old photos and dedications inside. Tacky heart shaped jewellery.
what’s something you loved as a kid that you secretly love now? This is going to sound lame but being given gifts, and giving gifts. Doesn’t matter what they are or how small or large, just that they are thoughtful. My first memory of knowing what it felt like to be loved came when I was five, and my mum went and got me this little plastic beaded purse I had seen at a market and wanted so badly, and surprised me with it after school. To say gifting was my love language that day onward is an understatement - giving as much as receiving.
what’s your phone wallpaper right now? A painting of London, the old gas lamps by the Thames, in the early 1800s. It’s called Reflections on the Thames, Westminster, London by John Atkinson Grimshaw.
are you a morning person, night owl, or something else entirely? Night owl, have been my whole life. I switched to working night shifts full time a few years ago as a result and now live largely as a vampire.
lastly, if you work, what is your work profession? and do you like it? I’m a journalist on the graveyard shift at a 24 hour news desk. Yes I love it, it's all I ever wanted to do.
