Ingredients: 1 cup butter, softened. 1 cup granulated sugar. 1 large egg. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/2 teaspoon salt. Food coloring various colors. Edible glitter optional.
Instructions: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until smooth and creamy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined. Gradually add the all-purpose flour and salt to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms. Divide the dough into equal portions, depending on how many colors you want to use. Add a few drops of food coloring to each portion of dough, kneading until the color is evenly distributed. Wrap each colored dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350F 175C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Take a small amount of each colored dough and gently roll them together to create a marbled effect. Don't overmix; you want the colors to swirl. Shape the marbled dough into small balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them out. If desired, sprinkle a touch of edible glitter over the cookies for a festive look. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
