I was talking to my dogs pre-constitutional walk (okay, I don't need to censor the word online. my dogs can't fucking read what I'm saying ffs) like I always do, blabbing about whatever as I put on their leashes and my shoes, etc. Well, it's garbage day in my neighborhood (one of them - there are three), so I told Kylie she was going to have fun barking at the garbage people.
And that does not work.
Garbageman sounds like a job. Garbage person sounds like an insult.
Trash collector works. But that's no fun.
So I figure we should just make garbageman gender neutral. However, we should also make a feminine-coded word gender neutral as balance. I suggest stewardess. Forget flight attendant. So anyone of any gender who has a job collecting trash fits under the umbrella of "garbageman" and anyone with the job of attending to the passengers and acting as support squad for the pilots is a stewardess, no matter the gender.
This I decree from my position of no power or influence. Let it (not) be so!
