old dolls part 2: alta moda furga dolls! these are pretty rare so the first time i saw them at my fiancée’s parents’ house i thought they were so SO fascinating, the two little dolls are also from furga but i’m not sure what the line is. simona’s head is disconnected from her body but the other 3 seem like they’re in really good condition!
This is Tomasino by Furga.
I found this Furga doll from 1970s (?) in a thrift store; she is 48 centimeters or 18 inches tall. She's very dirty and in need of a wash.
She's wearing her original boots :-)
And the lady in the store told me she's wearing traditional dress of Scheveningen (The Hague, The Netherlands) from the beginning of the 20th century (?).
Her outfit is handmade by someone with an eye for detail and great craftsmanship! Unfortunately the light blue garments do have some holes and show some wear; one button is missing, which can easily be replaced.
At first I got this doll for the doll, after inspecting her outfit I fell in love! I did some research and now I have plans to make her traditional outfit complete: with black boots, black stockings, a white strip on her apron and a white headdress.
After I gave her a wash. A clean doll and clean clothes!
In this last photo you can see real women in traditional Scheveningen dress.
