Larry Hamas original design for what would become Gijoe was for “Fury Force”. A team brought together by Nick Fury’s son. This fan brought those designs to life as action figures!

Hama's concepts were original intended for a proto-S.H.I.E.L.D. team, but when Hasbro approached Marvel, Editor-In-Chief Jim Shooter, he recalled this work and tapped Hama to apply them to the new G.I. Joe book.

Ok, this is really cool. Most GI Joe fans know that Larry Hama's inmortal Marvel run started out as a pitch for "Fury Force", about a squad of commandos lead by Nick Fury's son. The pitch didn't go through, but the plots (and apparently, much of the characters) ended up being retooled once Marvel got the licence to do GI Joe comics. And the rest is history.
But this is my first time seeing some actual concept art for it, and wow. This looks like it could've been tons of fun. Even with those 80s as all Hell MAC-10s. Source right here.
