So thankful to have been a part of #fusioncelje camp with these people. #jvupsidedown #upsidedowncelje
Because every great summer camp needs a giant lake to jump into. Thanks @dasajakop for the photo! #jvupsidedown #fusioncelje #upsidedowncelje (at Millstätter See)
The wrong piece that fits
I am sitting on my bed at a bible school near Opovo, Serbia, which you will not find on the TomTom GPS. I know that for sure, because we had to use a map to find this place. Like, an old school map. Crazy, huh? I'm complaining about having to use an actual map while driving through Belgrade, Serbia. Oh, how the times have changed, eh? Anyways, we are at an English Camp in Serbia. Yesterday we drove from the Fusion Celje camp in Milstatt, Austria, through Slovenia and Croatia, and in to Serbia. It was a long day. Good, but long. It was definitely hard for our whole team to leave Austria. Honestly, I think that in that short week the Castle started to feel a bit like home. It makes sense - that is the longest we had been in one spot for a few weeks. We also really like the Fusion Camp, and the people there. I will talk about that camp now, and a Serbia update will come a bit later. Guys! Fusion is great! I really think that it is an incredible tool, and I think it would attract at least as many people as English camp, or sports camp, if not more. At least, it definitely fits me, and what I think my future style of ministry might be. But, I'm getting ahead of myself. While we were at the camp I had the chance to talk with my old camp counselor and good friend Johnny. What a great talk it was. It was mostly mew catching him up on my life and my struggles, and some advice/observations that he gave were killer. He told me that there are often things that on paper make perfect sense, and should totally fit, but they just... don't. And at the present, we often don't know why. It's like, if you were solving a puzzle, and all the grooves fit, but the content of the piece was just wrong. It was a part of the same puzzle, but it just didn't fit there. There have been many times in my life where I have experienced this, and lest me tell you, it is very confusing. Because you put the piece in, and it fits, but it is wrong at the same time. And for a time you just stand there baffled. This can be (and often has been) in relationships, but it can also be in jobs, or school, or anything, really. And I am kind of in a situation like this right now. I think. I'm not sure... Let me explain. This internship I am doing should totally fit. I love media, I love film, I love camps, and I love Europe. According to a very I depth personality test, I can do just as well when I am not always with a bunch of other people, and I really like pioneering new things, or coming on to 'sinking ships' and helping to get them going again. I like working on a good team, and I like being very specialized. Honestly, just about all of that fits with what I am doing right now. But it just... doesn't feel right. Don't get me wrong, I am loving this trip, but part of its purpose is to see if it is what I want to do full time some day. And the trip is doing it's job, I'm just not getting the answer I expected. I hesitate to write this, because things might change, and i am in no way ready to make a big decision about this, but I also want you guys who have sent me on this trip to know what my thoughts are. So, here you go: I don't think that I will be a full time communications guy. Man, just writing that is hard, because I'm not sure I have a legit reason, except that it just doesn't feel right. I love the team, I love the idea of what we get to do, I love the impact. I really like Daniel, and traveling has been a blast. The piece fits, but I think it is the wrong one. Whew. That's a lot. I could speculate in what the right piece is, but that is too much for one post. Be sure though that I will tell you when I have some more thoughts. And remember, it all might change. God has this funny way of changing puzzle pieces sometimes. And I trust him completely, because he wants what is best for his kingdom, and so do I. Please pray that we would get great interview here in Serbia, and that the relationships that the leaders are trying to build and the seeds they are planting would really take root. Thanks guys!//
You know you're at Fusion camp when it's the second day and you're already drinking 3 cups of coffee plus 1 cup of caffeinated tea. That being said, camp has been incredible so far! I LOVE our students! Oh yeah, and castle life has been pretty cool too. 😁👌 #josiahventure #upsidedowncelje14 #fusioncelje #jvupsidedown (at Schloss Heroldeck)
Wow! God is definitely in the details. Elle and I arrived in Celje yesterday for the summer and learned that earlier that same day our local church and #fusioncelje got the keys to this incredible venue downtown! A space like this has been in their prayers for years. Future coffee shop, rehearsal/hangout space? Yes please!!
Random questions with Timi! We were having a normal conversation when suddenly I got asked this... #fusioncelje #whatishappening
The past two weeks have been incredible! I am in awe of the love that I've seen in my friends through our experiences at camp and the life changing grace of Jesus! During our time at Fusion Camp we had one week to practice ten songs, for both in choir and in instrument workshops, for the big Fusion Concert!
So the concert was amazing! And it was so awesome to see all of our hard work pay off in the end, but what I really fell in love with was the friendships that have been made because of our experiences together. From acoustic and bass guitar workshop, to swimming down at lake milstatt, and the many late nights like Clue night and Slovene night, as well as the evening discussions about Peter and his relationship with Jesus. I love each and every one of the kids that came to camp!
Now we are back in Celje, but Fusion isn't over! And I can't wait to tell you more about our time here in the city with friends and the experiences we have together!
