cTeam Office
As I write this I am sitting at my 'desk' in the cTeam office. I put desk in quotation marks because it is a roller basket holder with a flat top that is functioning as my desk. Don't understand this as complaining; I actually kind of love this. It is quirky, and super fun, because it means I am working with a bunch of people, all of us on different stuff. It means that there are things happening. It means that there is more of a need for people to tell the stories of God working more than there is a need for desks. That's pretty cool. Today I am editing again. I am trying to finish the Mission and Vision video, and I think I am close. I will work on more videos after that. It will be pretty cool. So that's about it, I need to get to work now. Please pray for energy and focus, and creativity. Thanks! //
Old Friends in New Places
So, yesterday I got to go to the Fusion Camp in Banksa Bystrica, and it was great! I got to see Josh Howard, which was great, and I also got a sweet surprise. Hudson, Kari and Elliot Jones were all at this camp as well. Many of you may not know who that is, but Hudson and Elliot are fellow JVK's from Slovakia, who moved to Little Rock, AK about 8 years ago. Kari is Hudson's wife, and the two of them are moving to Slovakia with JV soon :). It was a great reunion, and a super fun time to hang out with them. It was also pretty sweet, because we realized that we do still like each other (maybe even more now that we are older), and that we live close (Little Rock is about 3 hours away from JBU), so we have decided that we will hang out sometime this next year. I'm psyched.
(Hint: I'm the one in the middle. Hudson is on the left, Elliot on the right, Kari took the picture.)
The last two pictures I posted on here are of Elliot, in case you were wondering. He's cool, and photogenic. Takes great pictures too - you should check him out on istagram ( @_ellrah_ ).
Today was really chill. We left the camp in the morning after grabbing a few interviews and such, and I have been 'binge watching' some TV shows in an attempt to rest. It's worked pretty well.
I also got to talk with Laurel Jackson, a JVK from Slovenia, for a little over an hour tonight. She has just moved to the states to start college at Wheaton U. It was really fun to talk with her, and I was struck by how similar we are in a lot of aspects. There are now 8 JVK in Illinois, so I am thinking I will have to go up there and hang out with them for a while sometime this year.
Any ways, it's late, and I actually get to go to Church tomorrow (it's been a few weeks because of all the travel and camps!), so I need to get to bed. Once again, thanks for supporting me on this journey! This week should be all about editing again, so if you could pray for energy, focus, and creative juices for me and the rest of the team, that would be great! Thanks! //
Editing, Fusion and Howie
So, today was a good day. I'm rendering a good draft of the video I have been working on, and it looks pretty cool. Hopefully I'll be able to upload it here soon.
I spent most, almost all of today, actually, working on this video at the JV/KAM office, then came home in the evening and watched most of Iron Man, and just switched off for a bit. Now I am trying to finish this video so I can go to bed, because I've got an early morning tomorrow. Daniel and I are hitching a ride with Casey and his older son, Caleb, and going to another Fusion camp, this time in Slovakia (Banska Bystrica, to be exact). I'm really excited, for a couple of reasons.
1) It's another Fusion camp! I am definitely thinking that more of these may be in my future. They are really different and it will be fun to see a different one.
2) It is Survival Day. And your guess about what that means is probably as good as mine. I think it the half-way point of the camp, and so it's the equivalent of a field-trip day, but a lot cooler. And I get to film it. Score!
3) Josh Howard, a good friend of mine working with Josiah Venture in Slovakia full time is at that camp. Seeing known faces is always a fun thing, and Josh is a really great guy. Catching up will be fun!
We will stay there tomorrow night, and then leave after breakfast on Saturday to come back to Czech. How sweet is it that a Friday in this internship includes going to different countries all the time! It's so sweet!
Well, that's it for now, but I would (as always) appreciate your prayers re: safety while traveling as well as guidance during the interviews with students. We have gotten some great stories of God's incredibleness so far, and I don't think we are done yet.
Thanks! //
Far too delayed
Wow, I did not realize how long it has been since I posted an update. Oops! It really has been a crazy week.
It is crazy to think that this internship has lasted only 3 weeks so far. I met Daniel 3 weeks ago, and this incredible journey began. Now I am sitting in a room that I call my own for the next 3ish weeks in Czeski Cieszyn (or Ceski Tesin) at the Yormans' house (which used to be known as the Ellenwoods, but that is another post). In these last three weeks I have been in 9 camps in 6 different countries, and drove through 2 other countries. I'll try to post a map soon. The whole trip so far has been about 3,500 kilometers, so... 2174.8 miles (thank you Google!). In 3 weeks. I have slept in 11 different places, including a tent in Hungary and the Blue van in a parking lot near a castle in Austria. What a crazy ride it's been... so far.
Now the internship shifts a bit, and I am going to be more stationary for the rest of the time, though I will still visit a few camps. Daniel and I are working hard on editing many videos, ranging from our main project, the NOW AND THE NOT YET tagline video, as well as multiple shorter interview clips, JV mission and vision statement videos, and possible others. I'm really excited about the stuff that we have, and the stuff we are making now. I hope I can put together a real towards the end of next semester, and a lot of this stuff will be on it, and I'm excited. Seriously, you should see some of this stuff. Well, you will, once we finish editing it.
As always, thanks for your support and prayers! I will try to be more regular with my updates now that life will (hopefully) normalize a bit. But the updates will usually be more like this one, talking more about what I'm doing instead of talking about deep personal thoughts. I was running out of head space thinking of those ones... though they may show up now and again. Oh, and I'll try to post some cool clips when I get the chance, so keep checking back here! //
