Love when we get to see quiet moments that build character.
I love when we get a scene of the characters, in a bedroom, an inn, a hotel room, a club room, a bar even- and they are just... chatting... hanging out. Maybe having an intimate friendship or romantic moment... doing each other's hair or nails, looking through an old photo album, talking about past adventures, having tea (K-on core), maybe helping carry the other home after a long night idk.
I love when we get short scenes of a character alone that tells us a bit more about them, maybe a shot of them reading a book on a rainy day, maybe we get to hear what music they listen to on their drive to work, maybe we see them engage in a hobby, or even stop to pet a stray cat or a passing by dog. Or maybe they talk to the birds and the chipmunks they pass by, do they brush their hand against the trees or fences...
I love when we see the mask fall and the character break down when no one's around. Or if they do it in front of someone else who, when. How?
I love it when characters do karaoke, go to the beach, go to an amusement park, have a slumber party, each lunch together at school, all these little moments that build CHARACTER. I LOVE THEM.
I love the little side conversations the bonding moments... everything... even if they are short.
Because that's what makes me care about the characters. About their goals, about what they stand to lose.
Not that series that don't do this are bad or anything there's still plenty of media I like that doesn't or I still care, but I feel like I care DEEPER for the characters when they DO THIS.
