I got the library page job!!!

I’m so excited!!!  My first day will be August 30th.  Even thought it’s part time and just a page position, it will be a great first step towards working in libraries.  Both of the women who interviewed me said that they also started as pages, so there is room to move up eventually.  It will also be a good chance to see how working in a library is and give me an idea of if I do want to pursue a MLiS later on.

Job interview tomorrow!

I feel surprisingly calm, though surely the normal amount of nerves will show up at some point. But I feel comfortable with the story time snippet and the general interview questions. I'll do a little more studying tonight with Jon but I think I'm ready!

Life Update

- I am finally looking into how to get my temporary Texas educator’s license so that I can potentially take the tests to get an official one.  This should open some doors for me should I decide to sub again, or if I find a teaching job.

- I have applied for a couple more library tech/page type positions but no luck on interviews.  Many of these jobs have a minimum education requirement of a high school diploma or G.E.D.  I am way overqualified for that and I think it might be hurting me.

- I have also started looking into MLIS programs around here that I could apply to, as another way to open up some more doors for myself. 

- As a side project, I’ve started putting more time into art and have begun posting to my Redbubble shop as a way to hopefully bring in a small income.

- I’m living the housewife life at the moment and while things can get dull, I can’t say that I hate it.

I'm a bit amused over this Twitter assignment for my Digital Humanities course. We need to create a Twitter account and learn about this form of social media as a tool for DH. All who have signed up have JUST created an account for this class. I have my 6K Tweets about whatever show I'm watching or my random fandom tweets to Sara and Renee. I'm either a great example or a hot mess. I'm sure it's the latter.
