TFW you’re shelving books and a patron starts browsing behind you
I know this is a traditionalist blog but I just want to take a moment to post about my new job! I'm a page at my local library and I love it! I spend most days shelf reading since our branch isn't super busy but I usually have a few books to shelf :) I feel like I somehow managed to land one of the most feminine jobs I could have (I actually only have one male co worker funnily enough) and it's just so wonderful and I love it!
I know it’s weird for doing this, but shout out to all the librarians and pages continuing to have to go to work right now despite the libraries being closed

I got the library page job!!!
I’m so excited!!! My first day will be August 30th. Even thought it’s part time and just a page position, it will be a great first step towards working in libraries. Both of the women who interviewed me said that they also started as pages, so there is room to move up eventually. It will also be a good chance to see how working in a library is and give me an idea of if I do want to pursue a MLiS later on.
This is amazing!
Patron: *comes in from the pouring rain* hey I need an umbrella. Me: *most definitely works in a library* ... We don't have umbrellas here, sir. Patron: its ok I'm a [university] student. Me: ... okay? We don't have umbrellas though. Second patron: *comes in shaking out umbrella* Patron: Where did you get that? Second patron: *utterly confused* I bought it? Me: *silently dying*
