My sister is an egg donor, which is a truly beautiful and generous act. Aside from that, I have always kind of wondered if she has some unknown children floating around in the world. When a woman donates her eggs, there is always a chance that the kids could find out who their biological mother is, even if she chose to donate anonymously. If I found out I was a product of an egg donation, I think I would be curious, which is why I wonder about this. Also, if I donated my eggs, would I choose to donate anonymously, and if I did, would I be emotionally prepared to meet someone looking for me someday? It’s an interesting existential question.
