     midge cuts the embarrassingly drawn out gawking short with a low whistle, eyes flicking from foot to forehead. it’s ridiculous. absolutely absurd. it’s a whole mess of synonyms. ‘ you should meet my son. maybe you could convince him to eat his greens. or, well -- ’ she has to blink. twice. is she really -- yep. yes. this woman really is as tall as midge thinks she is. ‘ i think you might have gone a little overboard, huh? ’ to further emphasize her point, she steals a stool from underneath someone’s lazy feet and none-too-gracefully steps right up onto it. 

     she's barely managing nose level. ‘ ho-lee shit. ’

     ‘ oh my guh – ’ goodness breaks off into a gurgle of surprise as her center of gravity shifts severely. summer’s arms loop right-quick around isa’s neck, girlish laughter bubbling up and out of her. ‘ isabel – i have perfectly functioning legs. you know this, right? ’
