a football team i follow has an icelandic player who just got picked for the icelandic team (yay), and they had the full lineup listed and the amount of "wow everyone's name ends in son!" comments is... remarkable... there's one person very patiently explaining to them all about patronyms... how does this happen everytime anything to do with iceland hits the news, i'm so sorry?? like it would be great if people could actually pay attention to the actual news at hand?
It’s okay! It’s kind of fun having a really prominent and normalized cultural thing that’s baffling and alien to foreigners. I don’t expect random internet commenters to magically know all about Icelandic names. The actual news outlets should do their research, though.
(Family names are totally baffling and alien, though. I was so confused by The Simpsons as a kid. I figured since Homer’s name was Homer Simpson his father was named Simpur, but then his son Bart was also Simpson! What! I interrogated my mom about this and she told me maybe one of their ancestors’ name had been Simpur, which explained nothing and only confused me further.)

B. What is your first thought when you receive a message on Tumblr, are you excited for the idea of someone from potentially the other side of the world wanting to talk to you or fearful that someone will criticize you?
Honestly I think that I've fucked up somewhere and I go "oh shit what did I post that was wrong" and I freak out. Lately I haven't felt that way because its been mostly commission asks haha...
Q. Would you rather be dirt poor and emotionally fulfilled in life or be rich beyond imagination and emotionally dissatisfied for life?
Uhhhhh... To be honest I doubt I will ever be emotionally fulfilled due to my current internal situation so I'd rather be rich.
V. A world without religion, good, bad, neutral?
Well, I consider myself a religious person and my beliefs are really important to me. Like religion, like everything else, has been used for a lot of bad and a lot of good. To take it out of the world would get rid of both those goods and those bads. So I guess neutral. I don't know. This question is hard.
Y. Do looks mean anything to you? Don't lie, could you fall in love with someone you thought was ugly?
Looks don't mean that much to me because I honestly rarely experience aesthetic attraction to people. Like my first boyfriend was someone who people would consider not attractive at all but what he looked like meant nothing to me. I loved him for him. I would most likely fall in love with someone I thought I was ugly, because I'm ugly too so it'salright. ;D And it's probably not even their apperance that would draw me to them in the first palce.
Z. Can you understand the mindset and logic used by the opposite spiritual opinion? An atheist understanding the belief in a higher power and vice versa.
I can understand why people don't believe in God, a higher power, or whatever. For those who don't, they believe they don't need to. Which is perfectly acceptable. Some believe there is no God because they put it in the same realm of fairy tales, some don't see enough proof, some just don't know. And that's all okay.

i judge them but them i share about awful i think their pages are so it's like overkill lmao but i just couldn't get over that one girl that mentioned that chapstick thing i'm like what??? who cares?? lol
