Come dinner time, I made my way over to the coffee shop across the street to buy Economy Rice (菜饭) for the three of us. First up, my pack consisted of a piece of sweet & sour pork chop, hairy gourd 🥒 with beaten egg and stewed potato 🥔 slices. For sis, I got her pork stir-fry, hairy gourd & egg and sweet & sour pork. Mum said no meat, so I picked bok choy 🥬 stir-fry and stewed pumpkin 🎃 for her.

I love the way mum prepared this Fuzzy Melon (节瓜/毛瓜) which by the way is the younger version of a winter melon (冬瓜) with hairs. She sliced the gourd into matchstick sizes, cooked it with prawns, minced pork and tomatoes. Next she chopped up two whole chicken legs into two pieces each, dusted it with seasoned flour and deep-fried. I can’t wait to sink my teeth into the crispy and succulent chicken. Bon appétit.

Bought this Packed Lunch from another coffeeshop on the way to an errand. Stir-fried fuzzy gourd (节瓜 / 毛瓜 / Benincasa hispida var. chieh-qua), braised egg tofu and deep fried pork seasoned with fermented bean curd (南乳) with white rice.
