This Stir-Fry Medley is a mixture of leftovers and new ingredients. The leftovers being the pork belly 🐖 and spicy red snapper 🐟 from yesterday’s dinner and the new ingredients are bean curd, minced pork and prawn 🦐. Mum also fried a few Red Snapper Fillets 🐟 to go with the steamed jasmine rice.

Mum cooked a couple of Threadfin Steaks (午鱼) with leeks and minced pork. This premium fish 🐟 is expensive to buy so we seldom cook it, but it is incredibly tender, melt-in-your-mouth texture with a mild, sweet, and naturally rich flavour. The second dish for dinner is Braised Pork Belly 🐖 (卤五花肉) with egg 🥚 and shiitake mushrooms. I drizzled some of the gravy over the steamed rice, took this picture and dug in.

Today’s fish is Threadfin or in local dialect Ngoh Her (午鱼). I am not sure which type of threadfin 🐟 mum bought as our markets are selling Indian Threadfin (Leptomelanosoma indicum) and Fourfinger Threadfin (Eleutheronema tetradactylum). But I can tell you that they are expensive to buy due to their sweet, soft and flaky flesh. Mothers like to cook porridge with this fish 🐟 to feed their toddlers.

Here is a vegetable dish that mum don’t cook often enough. This Leek Stir-Fry (炒蒜苗/大蒜) mixed with prawn 🦐, pieces of boneless chicken and tomato 🍅 wedges. I like its mild, sweet flavour that becomes more mellow when cooked and goes well with the seafood and chicken. The steamed rice 🍚 is a mixture of purple and white grains.

My Dinner Plate is looking busy with new and leftover dishes. The crispy skinned salmon 🐟 steak and chicken nuggets are freshly fried. The leftovers are the cauliflower & prawn 🦐 stir-fry and pork ribs soup 🍲 with yong tau foo (酿豆腐). Among the pieces of stuffed bitter gourd 🥒, fried bean curd puff, bean curd roll, fish ball, there are also pig’s tendons. The steamed rice is a mixture of the purple and white varieties.
