It had been some years since he had left Dracula’s castle. He had moved everything important into the Belmont hold and demolished the castle. From the rubble a new Belmont estate was built for Trevor, Sypha and their growing family. But the dhampire was not apart of it, he left to find new horizons. Crossing the sea to a whole new continent had been an adventure in itself be it his first time sailing. Sadly less then half the humans survived the journey, either dying from illness or lost to the storm that they ran into.
Even as things changed, the more they stayed the same. There was poverty, monstrous creatures and cruel leaders. It seemed like only the landscape had changed. He wasn’t even sure what he was looking for, nothing specific, just something to distract him from his long vampiric life. Alucard was quite used to living off the land, hunting, fishing and gathering plants. He learned most plants from an herbalist he met in one of the farming towns in exchange for some of his knowledge on alchemy.
What the dhampir wasn’t used to was actually sleeping outside. He missed having a bed and sleeping in the large quiet castle, bathing daily was also something he longed for. After a week of living off the land Alucard decided to head into town, a place called Novigrad, and look for an inn to stay at. Getting in was the first problem as everyone had to have papers, he had to scout out the barrier of stone wall around the city until he found a spot where no one would see him dash over. Inside the town was interesting, he’d never seen so many people in one place before. It was all rather distracting for the dhampir as everywhere he turned there was something else that caught his eye.
Eventually he found an inn after getting directions, the next problem that arose he had no money for a room. This was where he used his cleverness was put to use. There were quite a few game being played at the bar area and he inserted himself into a dice game, easy enough to win but not enough money to be won there so he moved onto the cards. Gwent was foreign to him and not had a deck of his own, but the host of the game had a large collection that he allowed Alucard to pick from and use after explaining how it worked. He picked it up quick, too quick for the other people’s liking. After a third win in a row the man pulled knife on Alucard and accused him of cheating. In a way the man was right, the dhampir could practically read his thoughts and counter every move. Unfortunately he couldn’t calm the situation and a fight broke out that was very one-sided. Alucard bared his fangs and shoved the knife wielding man away and sending him crashing through the table. That was when panic arose, people started screaming ‘Vampire!’ and running away as others dare drew swords. Regret and fear crossed his face when he realized how bad he screwed up and in an instant he grabbed his bag and was gone.
The dhampir had teleported out of the in and on the run through the streets at inhuman speed and back over the wall. He stopped at the edge of the forest and looked back to the town. Humans. They were the same where ever he went, they’d never accept him. Alucard disappeared back into the forest for the next few days, meanwhile a price was set on his head initiated by the inn owner who was angry for the damaged the uproar had caused.
