Biography:
Annika’s life isn’t something she considers as anything more than ordinary with a side of tragedy. Born to a lower class family she had a typical upbringing of her class. She never had much, but she had enough and her parent’s love was all she really needed to get by. She remembers birthday’s and Christmases where her only gifts were handmade clothes by her Mom and Grandma because the bills were a bit too much that much, and to this day she treasures those gifts. Taking things for granted? That just isn’t her way. At the age of twelve she started working in her family’s diner as a waitress and she absolutely adored it. She made her own money, even if it wasn’t too terribly much and unlike other kids her age, she appreciated the things she had, especially the things she bought. But, working in her parent’s diner also brought some things that the Joseph’s didn’t like for their daughter. Developing early, Annika was often the object of sexual remarks from patrons at the diner and for the most part, she ignored them. After all, why would she listen to some gross old guys who smelled like beer and disappointment? It wasn’t until she met Edgar, a sharp-tongued drug addict who charmed her and brought her into his world that she started going down the wrong path. She hung on his every word, changed her appearance and everything for him until he praised her, and from the age thirteen to fifteen, he was her entire world. That is, until she got pregnant. In her mind, the baby would change him. She was absolutely sure of it and up until her seventh month, things actually went moderately well. But, Edgar slipped. He got high, more so than he ever had been and when she tried to flush his drugs went into an absolute rage, beating her and pushing her down the stairs. When he found her unconscious he panicked and dropped her at the hospital, immediately leaving town. When Annika awoke, her little girl had been born, but had been unfortunately born without an ounce of breath. It absolutely broke her, and after her darling Lily’s funeral her demeanor completely changed into the girl she is today. She’s no longer a happy, bubbly princess. She’s darker, more closed-off and getting close to people isn’t something she does easily. Hoping it would get her to actually come out of her shell, her parents sent her to Fairview, fingers crossed it would do some good.

IN CHARACTER QUESTIONS:
1. Do you enjoy the school you’re at? What made you decide to join the clubs you have joined?
It’s fine, I guess. I mean as fars as schools I’ve been to go it’s a higher quality but at the end of the day? School is school, and I’m just paying my dues until I can graduate. I joined Culinary club because cooking is in my blood, and something I actually enjoy doing and then the Poetry/Creative Writing Club is pretty cool as far as venting through my work goes.
2. What are your views on the culinary competition?
I’m not really one for competitions but I don’t see the harm in it. I’ll do my best and if we win, that’s cool. If not, oh well. At least we tried?
