ASTARION jumped as he felt a pair of arms wrap around him from behind. He reflexively moved to grab at them, before relaxing as he realized it was only Vin.

" Ah -- you know I'm always happy to see you darling, but perhaps warn me the next time you want to sneak up behind me, hm? " He shifts in the other elf's arms until he's facing them with a warm smile. " What can I do for you, love? "

THE vampire opens his arms wide, a grin spreading across his face. " Of course I am! Did you expect anything less from me, darling? " He knew Vin was worried sick about his new bounty hunting job, but really, how dangerous could a few thugs be after taking down a Netherbrain? Plus, he could sup all the blood he wanted from his targets; his employers didn't seem to mind that the corpses came back exsanguinated. Astarion was good at killing, and that was all that mattered to them.

" I'VE had two full meals and made plenty of gold in the process. It turns out people don't really mind murder as long as you kill the right people. " He lets out a lilting laugh before pulling Vin in for a hug, taking in their tired appearance as he pulls back a bit. " But you look exhausted. Have you been up all night waiting for me, love? "

" I'M...I'm not freaking out! " he insists, voice cracking only the slightest bit. " I'm just...processing! I-I didn't even think this was possible! " Granted, he and Vin hadn't exactly been trying to prevent a pregnancy, but Astarion had assumed his undead nature had rendered him practically sterile.

" I mean...I'm certainly not familiar with these sorts of things, but how can you be certain? With Galee...how did you know? "

" YOU know...it really does. " It was a rare moment of peace for the pair, perched high above the cliffs surrounding Baldur's Gate. Absentmindedly, Astarion found his fingers reaching to interlock with Vin's. " ...I haven't seen this city in the sun in over 200 years, " he mused quietly. " I'd forgotten how colorful everything could be. "

" IT'S fine, " Astarion snapped as he bandaged his arm, already on edge from the goblin attack. Those little bastards coated their swords in something that burned, and the pain was still lingering. Oh well -- he could deal with it; pain wasn't anything new to him.

THE pale elf eyed Vin warily, realizing he might be coming off a little too hostile. He wasn't going to make any allies like this. " ...Thank you for concern though, darling. You have quite the bleeding heart, hm? "

ASTARION sits silently in the washtub as Vin mends his wounds, staring miles away. Out all the things he'd thought he'd feel after he killed Cazador, he wasn't expecting...numbness. Maybe it all just didn't feel real yet. Cazador had tormented him for over 200 years, and now he was just...gone. Never again would he spend another agonizing night in the kennels at Godey's mercy. Never again would he kneel before his master, holding his breath as he awaited whatever form of torture he had planned. It was over.

VIN'S voice brings him back to reality, and something about their words causes all of his emotions to crash over him like a tidal wave. He feels the telltale sting of tears prick his eyes before he buries his head into Vin's arm with a sob, gripping them like a vice.

" PLEASE, just...please stay with me... ".

" THERE'S...something I'd like to show you, if that's all right? Something out in the city. " He offers the other elf his hand, a soft smile growing on his features. " We can take a walk -- it isn't far. "

" MY fault?! " The elf placed a hand to his chest in a theatrical gesture. " That patriar's gold would've been ours if you hadn't made such a racket. " He sniffed, lip curling in annoyance. " Honestly, why do they carry such large gold pouches on their belts if they don't want to be pickpocketed? They're just asking for it at this point, really. "
