“I don’t know why you keep coming back.”
That was, quite honestly true - Ky didn’t need to drop anything for them, but did he? Most of the time, yes - he did. It wasn’t due to the fact he needed to, but rather, it was due to the fact it sometimes helped. Trust might not have been important, but at the same time? It was needed - even if he doubted he’d ever get it.
“Nothing says I have to listen to you either,” he shot back, almost a bit too quickly. Not necessarily out of rage, but out of a habit. Ky might not have disagreed with the statement and yet he didn’t entirely like it either. “The point is, if I drop it for them there is a chance,” even if quite slim, “they will come to actually give me some actual trust.” Or not. Most likely not actually, but he was at least trying his best.
That was all he could do really.
“Maybe even more than that - if i’m lucky.”

Steve’s lips slant upwards when he spots Eames heading towards him, leaning back in his chair. How Eames had found him in this particular coffee shop, he’s not sure-- but there’s no point asking. He never get a straight answer from the man, after all.
“Long time no see. You look great.”

Work didn’t bring Mike to the area. He was merely passing through and given the time of night he decided it a good time as any to take a break. Rent out a little motel room until morning arrives when he’ll be back on the road again. Luckily for Mike, there was a bar within walking distance of the motel he was staying at overnight. He could order a couple drinks – some food for dinner while he’s at it – before turning in for the night. The man who he was seated beside on the bar stool seemed to be staring off into space from what he could tell. Hence the need for the question. Not saying two words to the guy before then. He’s half-tempted to turn down the offer for a free drink. Then again, it isn’t that late yet. ❝Yeah, sure. I could go for one more before turning in.❞ It’s not like he has anywhere else he needs to be. ❝You live around here?❞

“Right. What is it exactly that you do again, because I’m not sure I understood correctly.”

❝ well HELLO, thought you’d never wander back in. your usual, huh? please stop smudging ink all over my countertops, or I’ll put those hands of yours to work CLEANING them. ❞

He doesn’t say anything. Just taps his lips expectantly, raising an eyebrow.

“I still dream about it. About your voice, your hands. I thought I was finally going to be free, but that’s just another lie Cobb told.”
