~let’s talk about ocs~ ~and how they are treated~ ~woooo~
I honestly think, especially when it comes to this fandom, ocs don’t really get much of a chance and are heavily judged. I think there is this weird double standard going around because everyone wants to people to pick up minor characters and “treat them like they’re your oc” when it comes to the effort put into writing and filling in gaps. But when an oc comes around they usually get pushed aside (unless a popular rper picks up an oc)
I completely understand that there are bad ocs, but I don’t think it’s fair to judge all ocs due to those few. To have in your rules “I won’t rp with ocs due to bad experiences” is really discouraging. If I had a bad experience with a Natsu, I’m not going to put in my rules “I don’t rp with Natsu blogs”. Every oc is different and I think they deserve the effort of at least reading the bio page.
And I really do mean read the bio page. There are some ocs out there with awful themes bc they aren’t editing gods but they have really nice characters. I feel like the need to have a fancy theme also heavily influences how people treat ocs. Like I said, just over all they get heavily judged. If they don’t have aesthetic people assume they’re a bad oc.
NOW I know there are lots of marysues, and there are lots of traits that are on people’s blacklists. That is understandable. But like someone put a lot of effort into creating an entire character, they put even more effort into making an rp blog for them. And that also takes courage. And I don’t think it’s fair for them to get pushed aside/ ignored without anyone properly giving them a chance.
on a brighter note: here is an oc I made a while ago which is a perfect example of a bad oc which I think covers all the blacklist traits of this fandom

The quietness of the guild hall was a little unnerving. He’s used to people shouting, laughter and constant noise. However, he knows that it’s early in the morning. Natsu turned to her, and offered a wide smile.
“You’re safe here.” He assures once more, holding a hand out for her to take, should she feel upset. “No-one’s gonna hurt ya’, if anyone gives you any problem I’ll just punch them!”
He can understand that she is possibly worried. Setting foot in the guild that was supposedly your ‘enemy’. Still, Natsu guessed they were more the enemy of Ivan and his loyal lackeys than Flare herself.
“Why don’t you stay a lil’ while? See if ya’ like it?”
👀 + does leopard print get you in the mood? 😉

The chance that his facial features would have taken on a different form if the query had been asked by a stranger was definitely given; it had been quite some time now since Flare had grown closer to the couple and she would know of such small details that had come up for discussion the one or other time.
Thus, the slightest curve on Freed’s lips.
Regardless, the utilized wording made it a simple task for him to respond to this very inquiry without much detail. “No.”
It wasn’t a lie. Leopard print in general didn’t get him in the mood. In fact, he’d seen this pattern used in ways that were rather unsightly more often than in ways that them aesthetically pleasing. Hell, even Laxus’ leopard print shirt had by far not been his favorite at the very beginning.
But his husband loved it. And so Freed had come to like it too, in a way.
He had worn this shirt of his on occasion, knowing how much Laxus loved seeing him in it. He’d bought the one or other leopard-patterned piece of clothing or article; the fondest memory definitely being the surprise he’s had for Laxus on their wedding night. Special, leopard patterned underwear.
So leopard pattern were fine with him. By now. And they could turn him on. They merely had to be used in certain ways for it to work.
//if they had a kid: olexa x rogue?

Name: Arietta Cheney
Gender: female
General Appearance: Straight almost spiked hair, like her father. However, the color is purple like Olexa’s. Her eyes are light blue and her skin fair. For clothing, she has a green tank top that has a music staff around the waist. To match Rogue she tends to wear a cloak, with a cute pink frog pin holding it together.
Personality: Unlike her parents, Arietta is rather cheerful at times. But she does retain her mother’s shyness. She is heavily influenced by the two guilds around her and because of that she has a strong sense of friendship and is very caring towards those she is close to.
Special Talents: Arietta is quite skilled at shadow manipulation magic. She learned it to be like Rogue, who is a shadow dragon slayer. As for music talents is likes to play guitar and piano.
Who they like better: Frosch Rogue
Who they take after more: Olexa
Personal Head canon: Arietta is rather competitive when it comes to magic. She tends to pick hard missions and gets rather serious on the job. As for the guild she’s in, the girl went with Saber Tooth, because she felt like it suited her better. Although it did take her a long time to decide.

⭐️ Both girls are rather shy and even awkward when compared to the other character of Fairy Tail. But Olexa actually takes some sort of comfort being around someone similar to her. She can talk to her rather normally, and this leads to them meeting up for coffee or even shopping together. Hangouts that revolve around activities that are more relaxing or not as energy consume.
⭐️ They have a trade deal kind of going. Olexa teaches Flare how to play music and Flare helps Olexa improve her magic. Since Olexa would recognize Flare as a strong mage, somewhat due to the grand magic games, after they become better friends she might feel comfortable enough to ask such a favor.
⭐️ Olexa 10/10 tries to get Flare to join Fairy Tail (but respects the fact that Flare wants to stay in the Sun Village with her family). The question kinds of turns into a joke most of the time. But she would still really love it if Flare actually did join.
⭐️ Since Lacrima phones are canon: texting! But Olexa is still bad with words even via text and they two have somewhat evolved an emoji code. (this could also go with modern verse)
⭐️ Bonus: Hogwarts au of both of them in Hufflepuff house. Olexa tends to mess spells up because of her stutter and Flare helps her practice. She’s excellent at potions and in return, she helps Flare with that.
