 The European Move

If there is a government that sure has paved the way for others to imitate, it is that of Great Britain’s Ministry of Magic. In just two years, Minister Harold Minchum has improved several connections with our neighboring countries, has worked on innumberable laws and protocols necessary for the betterment of our thriving community, and to top it all off, has created better work opportunities for everyone, appealing not only those wizards residing under the jurisdiction of Minister Minchum’s administration, but also entire families coming from several countries in Europe as well.

With such interest being so apparent, the Department of International Magical Cooperation brought forth a project, allowing for families to move their lives to Great Britain, receiving any help necessary to adapt themselves to their new home; this including perhaps the most ambitious project so far, welcoming transfer students from Koldovstoretz, Durmstrang and Beauxbatons into Hogwarts. 

At the same time, in an effort to further fortify the relationships across the european union of magical governments, several resident families have decided to move away, enjoying the same privileges and benegits as the foreigner families starting to settle in in our community,

       New, unknown faces could be spotted all around the Great Hall. Even more strangely, they weren’t the usual first years marching to be sorted. These new students seemed to be from the latter courses, fifth, sixth and seventh years now seemed to outnumber those from lower courses and of course, such thing didn’t go unnoticed. 

Still, things didn’t go beyond whispering and talking, the main guess being that the Headmaster Albus Dumbledore would address the situation once everyone was properly settled. Anxiousness about what was going on did nothing but continue and grow as Dumbledore just welcomed the first years and directed some welcome words to everyone returning for the new school year, however, after that, dinner carried on without interruption, and with little to no effort from any of the authorities to explain what was going on. Were they perhaps hoping no one would notice or dare to even bring up questions about it?

Soon enough the general restlessness ‘caused the staff members to all occassionally direct their gaze to their Headmaster to no avail. 

The doors of the Great Hall opened, ‘causing everyone’s heads to turn in an attempt to see what was going on: There, marching down between the tables, was the Minister of Magic; Harold Minchum. Everyone remained silent until the man reached the High Table and Dumbledore received their apparent guest who, almost immediately directed his attention to the student body.

The man cleared his throat and stood in front of the podium before he began talking; utmost attention was important at all costs.. 

“Students, staff members...” He began, he looked notoriously exhausted, but kept a stern tone of voice as he spoke. “International cooperation has always been one of the pillars our community has thrived on. And this year is no exception..." He fell silent then, as though he was trying to find the right words to go on. “This year, students from other european schools will be joining us for the new school year, coming from Koldovstoretz, Beauxbatons and Durmstrang. The transfer students have been sorted and will take part of the school activities from today on.”

Instead of clearing everyone’s doubts, the Minister’s speech only managed to make everyone more confused than before, however, not much more was said and as suddenly as he’d arrived, he also left the premises. 

Attention once more focused on the new faces surrounding them.
