In case you haven't guessed by my absence, I haven't had power since Sunday. I still don't have power, and I may not have power for another week or so. Right now I'm at a relative's house (my aunt and uncle have power) to use their internet for homework etc, but that might not happen again for a while because I need to save gas.
Because it's impossible to get gas because everyone is using it for their generators so the lines go for miles. You see, not that many gas stations have power, and those that do are running out of gas, because the refineries can't pump it, because the refineries don't have power. Plus they're all down the shore so some of them are still under water. And if you can find a station that's open and has gas they only take cash. And it's hard to get cash because most of the banks are closed, and the ATM's aren't working because the power is out.
And even if you can get your cell phone charged it won't work because the cell phone towers are all going down because their generators are running out of gas. And even if you can get your cell to place a call it will run down the battery really quickly because it's constantly in roaming mode.
Also, it is super, super cold.
That said, I don't have much to worry about because Rutgers is closed for the week. (This is mind blowing. Rutgers usually doesn't close for snow, sleet, dark of night, hell, high water, or hurricanes. That said, the New Jersey Turnpike was closed the other day and I don't think that's ever happened before, ever.) And the library I work for is closed until they get power again.
Mostly I'm bored. But it's okay because I have a battery powered radio. At least the post-apocalypse has a soundtrack.
So, sorry for dropping off the face of the earth. I would especially like to apologize to all of my followers on fyeahrasputina for the fact that I'm lagging behind. You're all the best.
It's a little disturbing that infrastructure is collapsing slightly faster than it's building, but I'm not overly worried. I mean, we're from New Jersey. We're harder to crush than cockroaches. Seriously.
