Fuck Yes, Her Magesty Challenge: Hiatus ↳Regina's Most Defining Moment of S2

Releasing the magic on the portal was probably her greatest accomplishment of Season 2. With the risk of having Cora enter her world, she reverses the spell in hopes that it will be Emma to come through. Regina knows that Emma's return will get in the way of her relationship with Henry, yet she does this for him to make him happy. She allows herself to trust him, hoping that things will be okay in the end. When the moment finally presents itself and Emma returns, Regina is cast aside as usual. And though she has received thanks for her actions, Regina knows she is no closer to getting Henry back, and probably can't help but imagine what her life would have been like if she had acted differently.

2x17 : "I want to redeem myself" continued

I had a hard time choosing between three scenes that I felt were the most defining moments and/or turning points for Regina, Daniel and Cora's respective reappearances and deaths being the other two in question. Yet I feel that Regina burning the spell during the well scene in "Welcome to Storybrooke" depicts a continuity in her character development that is essential to Regina's storyline this season, and that is her road to redemption and her love for her son. Her will to change, to become a better person, and to not use magic, is entirely motivated by her love for Henry, yet for a couple of episodes it was unclear whether or not this love would be enough. Cora's return drastically turned Regina's life upside down, and yet in spite of the events of 2x11 through 2x17, I feel that this scene shows that Regina is not a lost cause altogether, that she still has it in her to change, if only for Henry.
