Walking threw Central Park was a way to calm Eli down. He was in one of his moods that allowed anything to really piss him off. Luckily, Gabe stopped by and got him out of the house. Work didn’t go too well that day, and Gabe knew his brother well enough to know exactly what to do. The cool air kissed his cheeks as they walked down the leave covered pathway. Bundled up in his jacket with a scarf that hugged his neck. Hands in his jacket pocket as they strolled, his boots causing a crunching sound as they stomped upon the brittle leaves.
It was quiet between the two. They never really needed to talk, just being there for one another was all they needed sometime. Gabe knew that if Eli wanted to talk about it–he would. Eli was lost in his own thoughts when a random passerby bumped him in his shoulder. Not a single apology came from his mouth. This made Eli’s blood boil. Rage overtaking him, he whipped his body around and grabbed the man’s shirt. Forcing him to fling to the side and land with his back against a tree, Eli in his face.
No words were exchanged between the two men, just an angry look staring into the eyes of a startled and frightened man. His fist cocking back to ready itself to punch the face of a stranger. In that moment, a gentle hand gripped Eli’s shoulder–a deep voice that belonged to his brother stern as he spoke. “Elijah.” It was all it took to bring Eli back to reality. His hand began to loosen from the man’s shirt, fist lowering from the air. “The trees are about to show us how lovely it is to let things go.” Was all that was spoken from Eli–backing away from the man. “Next time, say you’re sorry after bumping into someone.”
