The day was good so far. He had a full stomach from lunch and was trying to rest. His eyes opened when he heard voices. Silently, Gabe got up to investigate. Voices he was used to but one seemed different. A new one perhaps. He lurked on the outskirts of the forest in his enclosure.
Foooooooooooooooood! Gabe screeched about is hunger as loud as possible and to any one who would listen.

Gabe felt the eyes on him. He couldn’t see from where and it was bothering him. He started pacing around the enclosure, looking and listening. He wanted to know who was spying on him.
Laurie moved in, steeling herself. "Alright." She examined the eyes, the spine, the stomach--although only the trainer put his hands anywhere near the raptor's mouth. Finally she stood up. "He's nice and healthy. He should wake back up in a few minutes."
A few minutes passed as he blinked his eyes awake. They still felt a bit heavy from the chemical induced sleep. Although he couldn’t remember why he was on the ground. Squawking a bit he hurriedly got up and darted away from the open part of the enclosure.
Like the first egg, Laurie rolled the tranquilized egg on the ground towards Gabe.
Just like before he picked up the egg gently before darting into the bushes to consume it.
It didn’t take long for the tranquilizer chemical to work for he was soon laying on his side asleep.
She quieted quickly, eyes sliding over to the trainer. When she received an affirmative nod, she reached into her pouch to pull out another egg. This egg was different, however; already she had injected a tranquilizing chemical into it. It was the time for Gabe's checkup.
Gabe could smell the egg. He backed up to see it. He snapped at her. He wanted the egg, and he wanted it now. If he didn’t get it soon he was going to get the egg with the hand. Although he heard the clicker from his trainer. His attention went to the trainer as he got reprimanded for the manners before being released to get the treat.
She hears the crunches and stifles a laugh.
Gabe quickly finishes. He rushes back into the open, his sensitive ear picking up the noise. Either she had more food or she was volunteering. He dared to step closer and push her a bit, searching for more.
Laurie smiles as she watches, wondering if he'll like his little snack.
Gabe hides in the brush before devouring the yummy treat. It was his. ALL his.
