THE DAILY: Smile away. 9-28-23
Proverbs 15:13-15 A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is crushed. The heart of him who has understanding seeks knowledge, but the mouths of fools feed on folly. All the days of the afflicted are evil, but the cheerful of heart has a continual feast. . . In the middle of a cloud I call your name. – John Lennon I am told I do not smile enough. OKeedoke. Watch me…

Jim Gaffigan is added to the list with Kevin Hart, Dave Chappelle & so many more comedians...
I have enjoyed stand up as long as I can remember watching it on tv.
However, I noticed a pattern with at least...1/2 of all comedians. I want to say more but...once I see someone on that list, I don't tend to watch any more specials and give them chances. There COULD be some that make a comeback off of it, but I have yet to see it.
After they get SO rich, so popular, so mainstream, so recognized, their comedic takes on life get worse. Their comedy isn't as funny or relatable.
They sell out.
#1 way to know is if most of their material comes from their world travels (which they did not have previously). Mr Fluffy ONLY has material from his travels now it seems.
Top traits I have found when people sell out is -after they get their own tv show (usually with their name in it)
-after they get a semi serious role in a show and/or movie(s). Sometimes winning awards.
-again, once they do some world tour shit*.
-This is for a LOT of newer comedians, but they work more on being popular, streaming, and crowd work than ACTUAL JOKES. They care more about being seen than creating the scene, ya know?
Once they get to that level fame & money, the heart of their material...fades. DIES even. Cuz most of their material came from being a regular poor ole joe that grew up like the rest of us. And without regular access to the resources of which their material comes from, it withers. Their edges fade. You can't talk about how annoying this is, or these things people do, or this daily activity if...you're so rich, you're never exposed to it anymore, ya know?
Seriously, watch Jim Gaffigan's newest special and say it's even 1/4 of funny as his first ones. They're not. You don't get hot pocket material out of 'I'm rich and took my kids to Hawaii' (that was actually a special or two ago, but ya know what I mean.)
Side note-his movie Linoleum sucks too. Couldn't even get close to finishing.
*Know what I don't understand? How many comedians are anti government, anti war, anti everything the USA stands for...but then proudly go and do stand up to 'support our troops' overseas. Then come back, brag and do material on that. Hypocrites.
Two caricature paintings I did last week of Jim Gaffigan doing stand up and Tom … Two caricature work I did final week of Jim Gaffigan doing rise up and Tom Haverford on the Glitter Manufacturing unit! Lol #artwork #illustration #portray #digital
Jim Gaffigan and his wife are trying to feed New York’s frontline Manhattan's Mt. Sinai Hospital is where Jeannie had a near fatal brain tumor removed in 2017. She credits her life to the doctors and nurses there, which is why she and her husband are trying to give back to medical personnel on the frontline of the coronavirus pandemic.
