Okay, so I really did try to search this first but all it pulled up were selfies from like 2011 and 2012 where you were wearing really girly clothes and your hair was washed and it was really disorienting. Moving on: I want to start NOT washing my hair on the daily, but I guess I'm fuzzy on the details. I'm aiming to wash it 2-3 times a week instead of 7. On days where you don't wash it, do you still get it wet in the shower? Or just keep it out of the water and use dry shampoo? Halp
Hahaha oh man that probably is really disorienting. Now I wanna go back and look.
I wash my hair about three times a month. On days when I don't wash my hair, I wear a shower cap and keep it completely dry in the shower. I use dry shampoo when needed in between washes, but overall I try not to do too much to it. The more product you add--even if it momentarily makes it look matte and nice--the more you're going to need to wash it sooner.
Give yourself a few weeks of washing less before you decide whether or not you're going to stick to it. I'm not sure of the science behind it, but it seems like your scalp tends to adjust in terms of oil production and other shit--so you may feel like you really wanna wash it at first before your scalp calms down a bit and allows you to wash less.
There's EXTENSIVE info on the internet if you google around that will help you and probably be more relevant to your specific hair type and activity level.
Also, I think people are ultra grossed out by the fact that I don't wash my hair even if it gets sweaty. But I think it's a cultural thing. Yeah, you need to wash your pits and your body areas when they get sweaty--but a little sweat in my hair tends to dry down and be just fine--not smelly or gross or really anything. But every body is different!
