RAMBLINGS: THE THREE BLOODS
There's three main 'races,' or 'bloods' that are common in this world, though there is an incredibly amount of variation in each. The 'base' of each of these is a human, so if there's something I don't mention, assume that it works for them the same way it would for an average person (unless i just completely forgot to mention it fghj) All three races inhabit the same society and coexist together peacefully. They can also all interbreed, being more subspecies of the same species than entirely separate species. A Red Blood paired with either Beast Blood or Mana Blood will typically produce a child of the non-Red Blood, while a Beast Blood and Mana Blood paired together will curiously cancel out and make a Red Blood. 'Mixed' bloods do not exist, but mild cross-over can happen (like half-red's typically being more 'muted' than their beast or mana counterparts, and red-bloods descending from Beast and Mana blood's bearing slight touches of each) Red Bloods are by far the most abundant. They're called such because their red blood is about the only thing that unifies them all visually, both representing how unique and diverse they are and how similar they really are when you get down to the (literal) blood and guts of it. Basically everything about them is wildly variable- heights can be anywhere from 3ft to 8ft, builds range from stocky and bulky to thin and twiggy. Skin colors include all the 'classics' plus ashen grey and murky green. Hair colors are similar, including all 'natural' colors plus born grey/white. Eye colors can be any color under the sun. Other features seen in some individuals include pointed ears, pronounced canines (either upper or lower), and 'blank' eyes that appear to lack an iris and pupil. Beast Bloods are named such for their supernatural relationship to animals. Some resemble Red Bloods but have the ability to shapeshift into a certain animal, while others are unable to shift to retain animalistic features like claws or tails at all times. They may also bear non-visible features of their animal, like heightened senses or the ability to echolocate. Many sit in some middle ground- retaining some animal features constantly but being capable of shifting into a form with even more exaggerated animal features. Beast bloods may only be 'linked' to one animal, and this goes beyond appearance. Often, they will feel an affinity towards that animal, being able to understand it's body language and intentions better. Height range is the 'standard' 3-8 ft of red bloods. Skin and hair colors are typically shades of browns, tans, creams, and even reddish hues. Eyes tend to be colors natural to animals like brown, yellow, black, green, and so on. Faint stripes, spotting, or other markings slightly lighter or darker than the rest of the skin are common, as are white markings as in house cats, stoats, and other animals. While it is commonly said that Beast bloods always look like the animal they're linked to, this isn't a hard and fast rule, and they may only look like said animal while shifted. Mana Bloods are those who were touched by magic and infused with it. Typically this occurs before birth or at a very young age, but in extremely rare cases an adult can become a mana blood due to incredibly high magic exposure. Curiously, they seem to have less of a variety in height, ranging from 5-6 feet in height. Hair, eye, and blood color can be any color, but always match (though there may be slightly variation in shade) and the skin will either have patches of this color (resembling vitiligo or Blaschko's lines) or it will be a tinted with that color. The eyes, innards (blood+flesh+organs), teeth, hair and/or nails may glow or glint with this color. Particularly potent Mana Bloods may have elemental or magical features, like fiery vents, blossoming skin, or magic wisps that trail after them. Horns, wings, and tails may also occur, but they tend to also have some sort of 'elemental' or 'magical' look that differentiates them from a beast blood.
