Levy McGarden has a thriving business and a comfortable life on Blue Garden. But that life was turned upside down the night she crashed into the Captain of the Iron Dragon. Space pirate: Gajeel Redfox. She saved his life that night, and they’ve only grown closer since. Now, he’s got a proposition: come with him and he’ll take her to find what she’s been searching for her entire life.
Chapter 2: Captain
Levy whirled around.
Gajeel.
“Of course I got the note.” Her words tried to come out harsh, but the warmth spreading through her heart dulled their bite.
He was everything she remembered and more. Clad in a simple black shirt and leather jacket, he exuded confidence. Wild raven hair cascaded down his back, tempered by a thick gray bandana that matched the studded embellishments on his clothes and face. His red eyes pierced straight through to her heart. Tall and muscular and tanned from hours outside, he looked like he’d stepped straight out of one of her romance novels—only better.
The curve of his lips sent a shiver down her spine as he inspected her over too. Six weeks was such a long time, and there were so many details that had faded from the picture of him in her mind. The tiny scars on his hands, the sparkle of metal against his skin when his piercings caught the light. Holoscreens and wanted posters could not hope to do him justice.
Then there was his arm. Entirely mechanical, it stretched from the top of his left shoulder all the way down to his fingers. Dots of color and symbols speckled the entirety of the prosthetic, hiding the many gadgets—and weapons—his disposal. Dangerous, alluring, exciting. Real and right in front of her.
Gajeel flashed a wicked smile. “I knew you’d come. You were never afraid, not even that first night.” He took a long drag of her coffee. The cocky grin plastered across his face vanished in a twist of lips. “That’s no good. Needs whiskey.”
Lifting onto her tiptoes, Levy swiped the cup back. “I’d thank you to not take my things.”
“Ah,” he sighed, “but that’s what pirates do, little Levy.”
She glared up at him. He knew how to push her buttons far too well.
Gajeel laughed and tucked a loose wisp of hair behind her ear. “So, you ready to fly away with Captain Black Steel Gajeel?”
The challenge sparkled in his eyes. Nodding, Levy tossed back the rest of her coffee and raised her leg in a playful kick.
“Will these shoes work?”
He caught her ankle at the top of its arc, tugging just enough to examine the sneaker and her flexibility. Levy hopped to stay upright but managed not to break eye contact.
“Perfect.”
In one swift movement, he released her foot and slid his arm around her waist. Electric whirring filled the air. Then, they were gone.
Levy’s heart raced as her feet touched the floor. Travel by rift always made her nervous, but right now, that wasn’t why her pulse was pounding in her ears. Pressed into his side in a protective hug, Levy could feel the strong, smooth muscle hidden just beneath the fabric of his shirt.
“Wow,” she breathed.
Gajeel glanced down and cracked a devilish smile. Her hands still clutched him for dear life, and she could feel the burn of blush across her cheeks. Levy released him with a huff.
“I, uh, didn’t know you had a micro-rift. They’re really rare, ya know? And I didn’t even see you had it with you; I feel like I would have noticed—”
Gajeel lifted his mechanical arm.
“Built right in.” Tentatively, she took his outstretched hand. “Pirates like shiny toys, and this one has gotten me out of plenty of pinches since I got it installed.”
Levy’s fingers drifted over the cool metal, tracing the complex command sigils that covered his prosthetic in awe.
“Then why did we have to run?” she asked softly, almost to herself.
Gajeel chuckled, lifting her chin to look her in the eyes. “Smart as a whip, miss McGarden.”
There was something hidden in the depths of his ruby gaze she couldn’t quite place. Something that felt awfully like the burning desire of more. Breath stalled in her chest for a single heart-stopping second as she waited. But nothing came, and the moment dissipated around them like stardust.
Exhaling hard, Gajeel leaned against a nearby panel, tipping his head back and crossing his arms over his chest.
“I gotta modulate the frequency on it every once in a while or the alliance force will lock onto the signal. If that happens it would be too easy for them to find me and my crew.” His eyes grew dark and solemn, lost in a far away memory. “This ship’s my home.”
His ship.
“And I can’t have anyone finding us.” Standing to his full height, he shrugged off the feeling of gloom that had gathered around him. “I was going to Lily’s for a tune up. He’s a wizard when it comes to anything I need to keep the ol’ arm working. But no, he wanted to be a baker.”
They were on his ship.
“And until I can figure a way to build him a confectionery with a delivery vessel off the side of the old girl here, he refuses to close up the shop he’s got on solid ground.” Smiling, he rubbed the back of his neck. “But I’m working on it. Never had a better first mate, though.”
She was on a pirate ship.
“Ahem,” came an icy voice laced with annoyance.
Levy jumped in her shoes. She hadn’t noticed anyone come in.
“Not that you’re not a great first mate, Juvia,” Gajeel groaned, turning to face the newcomer, “but Lily was the better sparring partner.”
The woman strode toward them briskly from across the bridge of the ship, long blue curls bouncing with every step. She acknowledged Levy with a smile that reached all the way to her aqua eyes, before directing a glare at Gajeel.
“Juvia does not take you up on requests to fight anymore because she could incapacitate you in the first few moves.”
“Only cause you’d short circuit my arm.”
Juvia raised a hand to the ceiling. Faint blue sigils flared against her skin and storm clouds gathered above her head.
“Don’t test my patience, Captain. You’re being rude. We have a guest. You haven’t even told her where she is or made a proper introduction.”
“And how the hell would you know what I have or haven’t—”
Gajeel’s eyes ticked back to Levy, who had tucked herself against a nearby corner. “Shit, Lev, this is my ship, and this Juvia. You remember me telling you about her?”
Levy’s heart skipped a beat as all attention focused on her. “Um, hello,” she said with a nervous wave. “Gajeel’s told me about everyone. It’s nice to put a face to the name.”
Before she could step forward to shake the Juvia’s hand, Levy found herself lifted into a hug. Apparently none of his crew had any qualms about separating her from the floor.
“Welcome to the Iron Dragon, Levy. You’re officially sailing with pirates. I’m so glad you’re finally here. Gajeel hasn’t been able to stop talking about his friend for weeks now.” She giggled as she set Levy down. “Any longer and I was coming to find you myself. I’m Juvia. Please come to me if you need anything.” Stepping back, she lightly punched Gajeel’s arm. “Lugnuts might get to call himself Captain, but I take care of most things around here.”
“Hey!” Gajeel barked, “I do Captain stuff all the time.”
Mist gathered above his head, and a large drop of rain landed squarely on his face. Gajeel grumbled something about rust and swatted the cloud away.
“Juvia is first mate around here. She uses weather ether gear. Don’t get on her bad side or she’ll send a shower to follow you around for days.”
“Thank you,” Levy squeaked, “I’ll be sure to take you up on that once I know more about this place.”
The remark seemed to satisfy Juvia, and she turned her attention to a monitor off to the right.
Levy exhaled long and slow, turning in a circle to examine everything. She was on a pirate ship, with Gajeel, the promise of adventure right in front her if she was just willing to reach out and grab it.
“Wow,” she said under her breath, eyes lighting up like stars. “So, this is what you wanted to show me?”
Juvia tried and failed to stifle a laugh. “Smooth, Captain.”
Gajeel shot her a glare that could vaporize anyone else on the spot.
Unfazed, Juvia continued her work at the console. “You pick up everything we need or just that special item you wanted so bad?”
He nodded silently, daring Juvia to try her luck.
With a giggle, she shut off the screen and skipped out of the room. “Well, I’ll go tell Metalicana we’re ready then,” she called over her shoulder before turning down a passage out of sight.
Gajeel pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed, turning to face Levy.
“Don’t mind Juvia. She’s quirky, but she’s as smart and loyal as they come. Her favorite pastime is making jokes at my expense, though.”
“We’ll be fast friends then.”
That earned her a deep chuckle, and the air in the room seemed to relax.
“I did have something I wanted to show ya, Shrimp.” Gajeel took her hand and lead her over to a command panel in front of what could only be the captain’s chair. “You’ve been searching for some real specific scrolls, right? The ones you were so upset about that night. Well,” he pulled up a small section of space on the screen. “I happened to catch word that there’s some ancient scrolls on a planet, right here.” He gestured to a blue sphere on the screen. “Litulla. It’s on the outskirts of the cosmos. Some adventurers with a talking blue cat traded me this as proof.” Bending down, he removed a weathered roll of linen held together with an intricate wax symbol from the large iron chest beside his chair.
Levy’s eyes widened and the familiar words escaped in a hushed breath. “The midnight dove flying across a crescent moon.”
No. This couldn’t be real. They were all supposed to have burned, and yet here it was in the palm of her hand. Gently, she ran her fingers over the symbol.
“I can’t believe you found one.” Levy could feel the pull of ink and stitches in the back of her mind, itching for her to let them in. “They were used by the old council to mark documents of great importance. No one’s seen one in centuries.” Unbidden, a tear fell down her cheek. “This is amazing.”
“So, you ready for a real adventure? Let’s go to the edge of the universe together. Let me take you, Levy.” Gajeel squeezed her shoulder, and she shivered at the sudden coolness of metal against her skin. “Special delivery.”
Levy placed the scroll down and whirled around to grab him in a ferocious hug. She buried her face in his chest.
“Yes.”
His arms settled around her waist, and they stood there for a long moment, just holding each other. Levy bit back a sob. This was more than she’d ever expected. He’d remembered. He’d cared. A small part of her had given up hope on the search a long time ago, just like everyone else. But Gajeel believed. He was going to help her find the answers she’d resigned to live without, and there was nothing she could could do to show him how grateful she was—except go with him.
“Anchors away,” she said with a sniffle.
Bursting into laughter, Gajeel clutched his stomach and fell back into his chair.
“This is a spaceship, Shrimp, not some seafaring boat.”
“Starfarers, then.”
“Yeah”, he chuckled, “I guess so.” Taking a moment, Gajeel gathered his composure and called up a video labeled “Mechanics”. A tall, scarred man with wild salt and pepper hair appeared on the screen.
“Get her roaring, Metalicana!”
The man stared at Levy through the monitor then responded with a raspy grunt. “So this was the sweet you so desperately wanted to come back to this planet for?” He tossed his head back, laughing. “An’ here I thought you were talking ‘bout something Lily was makin’ us.”
Levy gaped as Gajeel turned red as his crimson eyes.
“Just do it, old man,” he barked.
“Nice ta meet ya, kid,” Metalicana said, addressing Levy with a bow. “Don’t let this one push ya around. He’s just a big softie under all that metal.”
Suddenly, the video cut out. “Pops,” Gajeel grumbled.
The floor hummed beneath their feet; Levy felt the prickle of excitement race to the tips of her fingers. Every risk she’d taken on Gajeel had steered her into something wonderful. Now, she was more ready than ever to dive headfirst into the unknown.
A smirk curled the edges of her lips, and Levy gestured with her thumb for Gajeel to get out of the seat. She was always the one who flew and he knew it.
Slowly, Gajeel stood. “My dragon’s a lot harder to handle than that little planet hopper of yours, short stack. Sure you wanna give it a go?”
Levy sat down with all the powerful grace of an oncoming storm. Command screens flickered to life around her, and she set their course without missing a beat.
“You’re not the only one with a few surprises up your sleeve, Captain.” Closing her eyes, Levy breathed in deeply. Her fingers curled around the controls as her smile deepened. “Yo, ho.”

“Flight 492, we are now boarding. Flight 492,” the bored voice said over the intercom, but Gajeel didn’t care much that his flight was boarding to leave to Magnolia. He was too distracted by the short woman sitting in the same concourse as him and reading a book.
Taking in her details, he noticed that she carried a small carry on with her, and it leaned underneath the weight. Is she really carrying a case full of books? Gajeel wondered with a smirk, watching the woman take a sip of her coffee and slide a hand through her azure hair. Her locks looked bright and shiny, and he would have to ask what hair dye she used to dye her hair that color. Not that he was going to steer away from black, of course…
Her eyes flicked to his for a moment, and she locked gazes with him as if staring him down. He gulped. Man, this woman was intense. Then, her eyes traveled back to her book as she gripped it tightly, reading the next sentence with baited breath.
It was then that Gajeel decided to walk over. He only had a few minutes before his plane departed. Besides, he didn’t know whenever he’d see her again.
Sauntering over, Gajeel grinned at the woman who had him so entranced. But her eyes never strayed from the book as she asked him a question.
“What do you want?” she asked, her tone dull yet not entirely uninterested.
That sparked a little irritation within him. He was the great Gajeel Redfox, and people all around Magnolia had heard of his boxing skills. Surely this woman would swoon over him once he fought someone for her honor.
“I wanna know about the book yer readin’,” he said, and once he actually read the title he was interested. It had something to do with vampires, but it didn’t seem like a waste of his time like most novels did.
“Really?” she asked, her eyes looking to his as she turned to face him. “What interests you?”
“Well, it doesn’t sound like bullshit like the rest of em’. It looks like a good read ta me,” he said, and the woman laughed lightly. It sounded like a song, melodic but simple. He liked the sound of it, and wished that he could hear it again.
“That is true. I read Twilight in high school and now regret my decision,” the woman said, smiling as she turned back to read her book.
There was silence for a few moments, and then Gajeel heard the front desk announcer report that his plane was now boarding. He knew he had to leave, but wanted to do something quickly before he departed.
“Lemme see what this is all about,” Gajeel said with a smirk, picking up her book and beginning to read the first couple of sentences. Finding what information he needed and accomplishing his goal, he began to taunt her with it.
“Hey! Give that back!” she shouted, jumping up and down. Gajeel held it with one hand in the air, shaking his head with a grin.
“Jeez, woman. You’re so short I doubt you’ll ever be able to take the book from me,” he replied, and in return she pouted and tapped her foot impatiently.
“You give that book back to me right now or I will have to take measures!” she said, shaking a fist at him. Gajeel roared with laughter.
“Oh yeah? Like what? You gonna climb up and get it?” he teased, but was surprised when he felt a warm body press up against his.
That’s exactly what she was doing.
In a flash, she had the book in her hands once more and was switching it out for a new one when Gajeel felt the front desk people staring him in the back of the head. He was the only one left that had not boarded.
“See ya later, shrimp,” Gajeel said, turning around and waving to her as he got on the bridge to board the plane.
Despite her annoyance, she sat back down and began to read her book when a small business card fell out of the front pages of the book.
“Huh?” She was confused beyond belief. How did he even stick that business card in there?
Nevertheless, she decided to read it. Curious, Levy flipped it over and began to scan the card.
‘Gajeel Redfox,’ it read, ‘Personal trainer and world-renowned boxer.’ Underneath was a phone number and a little more information about him.
She knew she had to jump at the chance to call him in order to tell him that she lived in Magnolia too--she was just waiting for the next flight into town so then she could apply for a job that she had waited for.
And she couldn’t wait to tell him something else too--she was a world renowned author and had written the book she was reading.
I usually don’t write little drabbles like this, but I saw it and got inspired. I should probably go to bed lol
What’s up peeps? Long time no gajevy. I was inspired to write a happy and angsty take on a picture I saw along my dash, so there will be a companion happy version to this piece shortly! This fic has some feels, but if you know me then you know I can’t hurt characters too much. I did thoroughly enjoy testing my boundaries by trying to create some tension and sensory fear. By some supernatural power I managed to make this under 1K as well. I hope yall enjoy. As always, leave me a comment, reblog, tag, whatever you want to interact so I know what yall like.

Wounded and separated from Gajeel in battle, Levy will make a desperate attempt to save his life. She calls upon powerful magic, but at what cost? And will Gajeel be able to rescue her after Levy makes her move?
Desperate Words
Levy's veins ran cold. The attackers had separated them. Pain no longer shot through her left arm, numb and useless now. Every curse she knew ripped from her lips as she forced her body to move, but she was so very slow. The deafening thump of her heartbeat pounded in Levy’s head until ringing replaced all other sound. Her magic energy was dangerously low.
Through sweat and tears her eyes found Gajeel. Iron clubs held off three men at once, but his back—where she should be fighting—was open. Levy choked on the dust that clogged the air as despair gripped her heart. A new attacker was stalking behind Gajeel, poised for a final blow. Her brain worked at lightning speed, grasping at straws for a way to protect the man she loved. The attacker was too close, and as much as she screamed at her body to move faster, her feet would not obey. Repercussions be damned; for Gajeel's sake, she'd transcend time and space.
Desperate tears fell as the only answer Levy could see flashed for a shining moment through her mind. He'd hate it; it would be painful. But it could work. Reckless power surged through her fingers as she wrote the letters. It was all up to him after this spell—Levy would hear about how stupid this was for the next three months—but she'd give them the chance to have the rest of those months together. A word to turn the tide.
“Solid Script: Magnet!”
The word appeared in front of her, larger than Levy had ever dared to make before. Without a breath of hesitation she grabbed on for her life—for his life—and let the magic go.
Everything was a blur as wind whipped around her. Levy's fingers begged to let go of the letters charging towards Gajeel, but she grit her teeth and held firm. With one long breath, she drew upon untapped strength and twisted her legs up when she felt the catch. The word dispersed as she latched onto Gajeel, and Levy kicked with with every ounce of energy she had left. Force rammed into the assailant, sending him sprawling a few feet away.
He laid motionless on the ground, but so did she.
Confused hands grabbed and shook her. When the world stopped spinning, Levy could see Gajeel, holding her as he knelt, eyes brimming with worry. He didn't look like he'd been hurt by the impact. Had their lives not been in danger, she would've loved to see the look on his face the moment her magnet had slammed into him.
“You told me to stay by your side, remember? There was a—” Levy pointed weakly to the man she’d taken down, “I’ll always have your back.” Warmth filled her body as Gajeel placed a kiss on her forehead. “Sorry it took so long, but this was all I could do with what I had left.” Tears welled in her eyes, relief crashing over her in waves. It had worked.
“Thank you for always having my back, but you’ve gone an’ pushed yourself too far,” Gajeel said gingerly, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “Reckless wife of mine, I must be rubbing off on ya too much.” He brushed away her tears, his voice trembling, “Rest, Levy. It's my turn to protect you.”
With a light nod, her eyes fluttered shut, and Levy let her head fall against her husband’s chest. Dark gray scales rose from Gajeel’s skin as he turned, staring daggers into the remaining men.
“Lily,” he said, the words cold and biting as his steel. “Take Levy somewhere safe. She saved my ass, and I intend to take full advantage of the opportunity she's given me.” An aura of malice flickered around Gajeel like black fire.
“Now who the hell thought it would be good idea to hurt my wife?” The cracking of his knuckles promised shattered bones. “Sounds like you shitheads have a death wish.” Light flashed against metal fangs and talons. “When I'm done with you assholes yer gonna beg every god you know to go back to the days when all I could do was arrest ya.”
He raised a hand to wipe the blood from his brow, face twisting with a hunger for revenge. “Your fate cemented the moment you decided to fuck with Fairy Tail.” Fury incarnate, Gajeel’s eyes glazed over as he shouted his assault. “And you nailed your coffins shut when you dared harm Levy Redfox.”

Gajeel’s birthday takes a turn from sweet to saucy when he finds an odd costume in Levy’s drawer. The mood was already hot, and a revelation about a mission during their council days turns things up to eleven. In a sea of drinks and skin, Gajeel watches another side of his wife unfurl, and she wants to tease him within an inch of his sanity.
Comfortable
Gajeel pushed her back against the door as it swung shut. His breath was hot against her neck, laced with whiskey from their adventures earlier that evening. Grabbing Levy’s ass, he lifted her up and spun her around. She wrapped her legs around his waist, giggling as her feet touched the floor. Gajeel spun her again, and they danced around the living room in what felt like a tipsy dream. Falling onto the couch, they sighed collectively; it had been quite the evening already. Levy propped her chin up on his chest and leaned in for a soft kiss.
“Happy birthday, Gajeel.”
Every time she said his name his heart fluttered. Levy giggled, kicking her feet into the air. The motion sent one of her shoes flying, but tonight she didn’t mind. Something else held her every thought. Biting the corner of her lower lip, she traced shapes against her husband’s chest; the anticipation she’d held back all night ready to bubble over.
“You know what I wanna do?” Levy said coyly. “I wanna get out of all these layers—and into something a little less comfortable.” Her fingers rubbed the hem of her skirt. “Let’s play a little game.” Sitting up, she motioned to the bedroom. “You go pick out something special that you like from my drawer—anything you want—and I’ll go mix us a few more drinks.” Without giving him a second to react, Levy hopped off his chest and sauntered into the kitchen. Gajeel stared agape as she walked away. The game—the one he’d been waiting for since they left on their date—was afoot.
Gajeel practically skipped, giddy as the first time he’d kissed her, into their bedroom and made a beeline for the drawer he knew Levy was alluding to. It was the one closest to the floor—where she kept her more intimate items. He rummaged for something special to commemorate the evening. Each set made him smile fondly; sweaty memories played in his head as he took out the various pieces. Colors and smells flashed through his mind, each as distinct and vibrant as the lingerie that elicited them.
Gajeel’s fingers brushed against an unfamiliar fabric wadded up in the back corner of the drawer. Curious, he pulled out the small bundle. This wasn’t Levy’s usual style but it was oh so sexy, and yet, he couldn’t recall seeing it before. He took a longer sniff—still nothing. His wife loved showing off her lingerie to him, and it was irksome that he could not remember this set. Gajeel returned to the living room with the costume in hand.
“Hey, Lev. These new? I can’t seem to remember them, and I know I would remember something like this.”
Levy looked up from her cocktail shaker and her eyes went wide as she recognized the bundle of fabric. A rosy hue sprouted across her cheeks. This time, it had nothing to do with the alcohol.
“Oh, that,” she murmured. Levy tried to break their gaze, but the look in Gajeel’s eyes pressed her onward. “It was back when we were on the council.” Her fingers twiddled together and she chewed her lower lip. “Remember that mission where I had to pose as a cocktail waitress in that—establishment—to root out those smugglers?” Gajeel nodded, prompting her further. “Well, that wasn’t the original mission, and I wasn’t supposed to be going undercover as a cocktail waitress…” A hint of nerves shook her voice. Gently reaching around her for a hug, Gajeel held her and stroked her hair.
“Lev, just tell me, c'mon.”
She inhaled deeply and let the words pour out in a single breath. “Originally, I was supposed to go undercover as a dancer, and that was going to be my costume.” Levy looked up into his eyes and saw something unexpected: mirth. As if to say, that was all? She rattled on, weight lifting from her chest. “They had me work with an undercover specialist so I could play the part, but I wasn’t really convincing anyone. It wasn’t long after we’d gotten serious, though we were always kinda serious, and I just wasn’t comfortable with other people—especially those smugglers—looking at me that way. You’re the only one I’d want to have watching—and I wasn’t great at climbing the pole. Short ya know.” Gajeel pulled her closer as Levy’s words spun out of control.
“Well, you’re certainly comfortable climbing one pole now.” He smirked and placed a kiss on her forehead. “So that’s why they sent me on a different mission? So I wouldn’t bust the jaw of every person who dared to watch you?”
Levy sighed, relaxing in her husband’s arms. “Yeah, I was the only one who could do it. The smugglers spoke a really rare dialect, and those council translators were always so slow. They’d never be able to handle undercover work.” Her voice faltered as one of their less successful undercover missions flashed in her mind. “Anyways, I learned what I could, but I just couldn’t perform for anyone that wasn’t—you. So we scrapped the idea and managed to rework things so I could pose as a drink girl. Not as much shaking—or skin—but I still got to wear the tights. They told me to keep the outfit just in case something similar came up again, so I could help if I’d changed my stance on the subject.”
“Glad I don’t have to go back there and crack in the skulls of any council idiots that mighta made ya do that.”
Levy gave him a little squeeze, her embarrassment abating.
“Well, I actually had a little fun with the dancing itself. I just couldn’t get comfortable enough thinking about people watching me to make it believable.”
“Oh?” Gajeel raised a studded eyebrow. He knew his wife was more adventurous than she appeared, and this development was definitely intriguing.
“It was kinda fun working on what made me look seductive. Back then I was just beginning to not be as shy about my body—I wasn’t used to feeling sexy.”
“You were always sexy, Lev,” he countered, giving her ass a little squeeze. He offered her the outfit. “So, this costume hasn’t debuted yet?” His question hung in the air, beckoning her to bite. And she did, taking the sparkling fabric from her husband. “Not yet. But you may be able to convince me, Captain Redfox.”
Gajeel’s eyes widened at the mention of his title, and he licked his lips, pulling her into a deep kiss.
“Only if you want to, Levy.”
His wife smiled back at him mischievously. “Happy birthday, dear.” She leaned in close and grabbed his crotch, breathing against his ear, “Why don’t you finish the drinks while I get changed.”
Stunned, Gajeel’s vision blurred as he watched Levy walk away, her hips swinging exaggeratedly in the way she knew he loved. He let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding; she always managed to steal the air from his lungs. After pouring another glass of whiskey sour, Gajeel sat down and adjusted his pants. His erection was already pressing uncomfortably against the seam. They probably didn’t need more foreplay to be ready for what was to come, but he was curious about what she’d learned, and how she’d enjoyed the shaking and skin.
He sipped on his cocktail as he sat there waiting for her and tried to recreate the fabric he’d found—and those tights—in his head. Gajeel’s mind flickered for a moment to who could have suggested she do this for the council, and a low growl escaped his lips. Grunting, he shook the thought from his mind. He didn’t like when she went undercover by herself, especially when she had to flirt for information. Levy was his wife, and dragons don’t like to share. But it was ultimately her decision, and he wouldn’t get in the way of Levy doing her job. Still, she hadn’t wanted anyone but him to see her like that, and the reminder eased his frustration. Gajeel knew he was a lucky man to have Levy by his side, and he’d be sure to show her his appreciation tonight.
A muffled curse made his ears perk up.
“Lev,” he called, “do you need help?”
“No, no, definitely not,” she answered furiously. “Just relax and close your eyes, hun.” Her voice took on a sultry note. “I’ll be out in a minute.”
Gajeel did as she asked, settling against the couch. A few moments later he heard the creak and close of a door as Levy walked into the room. He chuckled at the patter of her tiny feet against the floor; it was one of his favorite noises. But something was off this time, there was a sharp almost hard sound each time she stepped.
Levy leaned over the back of the couch, placing her hands over his eyes. Gajeel breathed in deeply; her scent was heady and intoxicating.
“I can smell ya, Lev, how much you want me.” He shifted, reaching for his wife, but she nudged him back into place. This was exactly what she wanted—to tempt his every sense.
“No peeking, Captain,” Levy purred, leaning over to grab his drink. She let her breasts drag along his chest as she pulled away. “I’ll take that for you, but remember, tonight my favors aren’t free.
Gajeel gulped, nodding his head in understanding. They definitely didn’t need the show that was about to come, but he knew it was going to be a damn good one. His cock fought against his pants, yearning to be released as he waited patiently, eyes closed, for her to return.
Suddenly, her lips were on his own, and Gajeel could taste sweet alcohol on Levy’s breath. Her hands guided his over soft skin to fabric as their tongues twisted together until something abruptly snapped against his fingers. Gajeel’s focus shattered, and he let out a low whine. This was going to be really good.
“I’m going to need to frisk you for a badge, Captain. Can’t be too careful with people.” Levy brushed against his crotch as she popped open each of the buttons on his shirt. She ran her hands over his torso and hips, lingering as she checked him.
“Looks like you’re the real deal. So, you willing to pay for a show?” Gajeel nodded furiously. “Alright then, Captain. Clock starts now. You can open your eyes, and see your prize for the evening.” He smiled, no matter what, Levy was still Levy, and Levy loved to play with words.
Silently, Gajeel took in the sight of his wife. To his surprise, she was wearing his old council jacket. She gave him a wicked smile and started to unbutton the clasps one by one, careful not to let anything underneath show. With a leisurely twirl, Levy let the fabric slip from her shoulders. Gajeel tried to slow his breathing, slow the beating of his heart, slow the growing space between his jeans as his hardened length fought and won a battle against the waistband of his pants. His eyes flitted around madly as he attempted to take in every detail.
This wasn’t the normal, sweet, dreamy Levy he knew. This was a deeper, darker, taunting Levy he’d seen but a handful of times before. She was much more confident and powerful, aware of all her charms. In that moment, he knew he’d do anything she asked of him. Already putty in her hands, all Gajeel wanted was to let her do as she pleased with him. And he understood what she’d meant by jiggling and skin.
Levy stood there, watching his every reaction as she tossed the white jacket to the floor. Running a hand through her hair, she took a step closer, delighted as his eyes grew wide. She was clad—barely—in deep blue and black lace. A cropped corset made of midnight leather laid stark against her pearly skin. Sparkles along the bust caught the light and blue lace hugged her sides. A zipper ran the length of the top, barely closed as her breasts threatened to escape. Holding up her ensemble were two straps attached to a glittering collar that rested around her neck.
Gajeel could feel his heartbeat in his ears as he took in every inch of his wife. His eyes traveled down her stomach, where nothing was left to the imagination, until he came across a small diamond shaped piece of fabric covering one of his favorite areas. The navy material was embellished with lace and glittered like her top. Long black straps held the whole thing in place, barely digging into her hips. God did he want to bite that scrap of fabric off. Gajeel’s gaze drifted lower. More lace held up the most surprising part of her outfit: jewel studded fishnet tights. Her legs sparkled each time she shifted her weight, the stones catching and reflecting the dim light of the room. Levy exuded seduction, and the look in her eyes threatened a delightful night.
She strode over to her husband, settling down on his lap.
“So, Captain, what do you think?”
He couldn’t think. Gajeel’s mouth was suddenly dry, and all reason had abandoned him.
“Oh? Dragon got your tongue?” Levy leaned in closer, lips ghosting over his face. “Or maybe you’re nervous? First time?” She angled her hips down, grinding into him until she opened her mouth in feigned realization. “I bet you’re shy is all, Captain. How about I make things a little more comfortable for you?” Scooting back a little on his legs, Levy ran a finger across her lips, barely wetting it. Slowly, she lowered both hands, one hovering just above his cock, the other resting on the blue and black fabric over her crotch. Their eyes locked.
The barest sigh escaped her lips, and she began to work on them both. Gajeel groaned as she rubbed his cock over his pants. He’d foregone wrestling with his growing erection, leaving Levy do as she’d like, but what was truly driving him crazy were her fingers as she pleasured herself. He watched, whimpering, as her fingers dipped down below that scrap of fabric. Levy’s cheeks were flushed, and she refused to break his gaze, moving faster and faster.
It was hard to breathe as Gajeel watched her, watched every emotion grace her face as she sat there fingering herself on his leg. A warm, damp spot grew where she sat. Every once in a while, Levy would bring her fingers out to have Gajeel wet them. That was when he couldn’t take it. He could taste her desire, and he wanted more. He lunged for her lips, but Levy dodged him easily, standing up and spinning around.
“Time for part two, Captain. Now that we’re all warmed up.” Gajeel bobbed his head in acknowledgement, still dizzy from part one. “Now, there’s no touching in part two—you’ll have to wait for part three for that.” Levy stood with her back to her husband and popped out her hip. “Gimme a beat, officer.”
Gajeel scat and sang as she started to dance. First, Levy spun in circles, tossing her hair from side to side, eyeing him all the while. Down to the floor she slid, popping her ass out on the way back up. He changed the pace, slowing; she answered by swinging her hips with legs wide open. Biting her lower lip, Levy locked their eyes again and eased into a split, flashing her husband a nice view of the lingerie covering her crotch. Gajeel couldn’t help but stare. Daintily rising up, she turned around and repeated the procedure so he could watch her ass. Levy knew she was flexible, and tonight, she was going to tease him with it. His singing stopped abruptly, and Levy shot him a curious look.
“This is amazing, Lev. Yer so bold tonight, and I can’t wait for whatever part three is. But I’m seriously gonna have to make a trip to the council and pound in the skull of anyone who’d ask you to do this for—”
She stopped the thought with a kiss.
“Stop worrying, silly. All they did was give me the outfit and a few tips on what would entice a man. The rest is all me and is all for you. So, quit yer whining and enjoy your birthday show.” Levy felt him smile against her lips and relax into the kiss. They stayed that way for a minute, glued together in passion, until she broke for air.
“Now, Captain, I think you’ve earned yourself a taste of part three.” Levy pushed Gajeel up against the arm of the couch, leaving enough room for her to lie down in front of him. She grabbed his thighs and slid onto her back, knees rubbing together in anticipation. Her teeth grazed the bottom of his pants as she settled into place.
A snap drew Gajeel’s attention down. Levy’s fingers were toying with the straps around her hips. She plucked the elastic again, and he watched her thighs jiggle. Lowering each mass of straps one at a time, Levy showed off her delicate skin and the barely pink marks left by all the snapping. Gajeel wanted more than anything to run his lips across her hips—softer there than anywhere else—to make marks and soothe them a moment later. He was as subtle as a hurricane, and Levy took note. She reached for his hands, taking them in her own.
“Oh, Captain, do you recall the perks of part three?” She rubbed his hands along her hips and across the straps. “You get to touch.” However, Levy wasn’t about to give up all of her control. Maneuvering his fingers, she made him pluck the elastic, barely biting into her skin. His fingertips hovered just above her legs as they jiggled from the impact. Warm hands traced her sparkling tights, over and around the netting, and for a moment, she let them rest against her damp crotch. He was allowed a single flick of the finger before he had to withdraw, but not before she had him breathe in the scent—her scent—from the dripping finger.
Levy had his mind spinning in a haze. He wanted more, to hold her as intimately as two people could, and to make her heart race as fast as his own.
“I think it’s time to get to the stripping, Lev.”
She turned her head up and stole a sultry glance.
“My thoughts exactly.” Grabbing his collar, she pulled him into a hungry kiss. “It’s time for you to strip.”
Levy kissed her way up his exposed abs and chest, every sudden moan and gasp spurring her on. Gingerly, she pulled the shirt off his shoulders. Gajeel’s bare, toned torso was one of his more alluring assets, and Levy would have sat there savoring each touch if there wasn’t something better ahead. She hooked a finger behind his waistband and ground herself against his hardened length one more time before shimmying the fabric off. Stroking him over his underwear, she pulled Gajeel down for a tongue tying kiss, then slipped his boxers off too. Levy smiled at her handiwork; her husband was stark naked and clearly turned on. Pride welled in her chest; the night was going so well, and they hadn’t even made it to the best part. Slowly, she turned and sauntered away.
Winking over her shoulder, Levy purred, “My turn.” Agonizing time passed as she pulled down her strappy underwear and unhooked them from her tights. She tossed them to her husband, and the tights quickly followed suit. Barely a breath later, Levy pounced, pressing a flurry of kisses around his neck.
Skin lowered onto skin, and Gajeel lost all composure. Large, rough hands pulled her flush against him; he’d longed to have her ass in his hands all night, savoring the feeling. But Gajeel wasn’t done. He wanted all of her. Suddenly his teeth were around her zipper, pulling it down and snapping the sparkling collar open. Time slowed to a halt, and they lost themselves in the satisfaction of bodies pressed together. No barriers, just heat. Gajeel ran his fingers through her hair, then began to brush every sensitive area she had.
“You ready, Gajeel,” Levy gasped through breathy moans, “for part four?”
His answer was clear in his kiss. Gajeel’s need for her took over; all at once, his lips were on her neck, pressing hot kisses down to her collar. He took his time there, feeling the soft thud of her heartbeat as he lapped the sensitive skin.
“Do ya know how hot that was?” he asked breathlessly. Fingers ran through her hair, gently moving Levy’s neck back and forth. “That collar, sparkling around yer neck. I just wanted to pull you to me and bite it off.”
“It certainly was fun,” Levy sighed.
“Ya know what’s more fun? These.” Gajeel grasped at her nipples and began to rub them with a featherlight touch. Levy inhaled sharply at the sudden stimulation. Circling faster, he gave her a pinch every now and then until Levy sat trembling under his touch. “Now, yer hard too.”
Levy chuckled; Gajeel loved his jokes and innuendos almost as much as she did. Every tweak of her buds made her shudder, wanting more, until one hard pinch had her keeling over with a loud whine. Stealing a glance back at her husband, she saw a satisfied grin grace his face. After teasing him relentlessly, this was his payback.
He scooped her up in his arms, carrying Levy to the edge of the couch and gingerly laying her over the arm of their sofa. Tension grew as he knelt, tossing her legs over his shoulders.
“Time to make you really squeal.”
It was all the warning she got. Gajeel dove in, running smooth circles with his tongue around her slit. Angling her legs down and hips up, he had her right where he wanted. Next, he began the slow swirl around her clit. Levy convulsed around him as electricity raced through her veins. He picked up the pace with his tongue, flitting against her pearl furiously as he raced her to climax. She arched her back, pressing into him harder, until suddenly, she was upright, around him again, and Gajeel slipped a single finger up into her depths. Crumbling around him, Levy fell over the edge of her orgasm. She held onto her husband clumsily as he kissed and pawed at her skin, her cries of pleasure spurring him on. They toppled to the floor, tangled together in a mass of mad kisses. Mind still fuzzy from her high, all she could do was return each one with as much passion as he gave. Gajeel broke for breath, panting as he kneeled over her.
“Let me repay you for your teasing tonight,” he crooned. Face flushed, Levy moaned her acceptance. She was more than ready to be on the receiving end of teasing touches now. “Or,” he mused, “maybe I’ll arrest you instead—for being too damn sexy.” Blindly grasping around, he pulled one of her tights that had been discarded on the couch and used it to lightly tie Levy’s hands above her head. Gajeel leaned back on his heels to admire his work. “You ready for the maximum sentence?” he teased, lining his cock up to enter her. Then, Levy giggled. She appreciated a cheesy pun too much and couldn’t help her response. Gajeel’s eyes turned to steel and passion, and he traced a finger from her clit all the way up to her hair. Leaning down, he hovered close to her neck, whispering, “Oh, Miss McGarden, you’re gonna regret that giggle.”
He entered her slowly, swiping at her pearl as her walls pulled him in. At last, they could truly feel each other. Both had longed for this moment all night, and they sighed as one. Levy relaxed around him, allowing him to slide further in. Heat built instantaneously. Throwing all his need and love into a kiss, Gajeel locked their lips together. He held Levy’s hands in place above her head and began to thrust.
This was Gajeel’s favorite view. He could watch her face as he moved in and out of her, leading her to a giant crest. He could see the sweat running down her chest and the jiggle of her breasts each time he entered her. Every bite of her lip as she held back a gasp or a moan made him want her more. Gajeel kissed her neck, moving faster as waves of pleasure rolled through them both. Then Levy began to moan; softly at first, but as he thrust harder she grew louder. Smiling ear to ear, Gajeel pressed on. His name was on her lips, and he intended to keep it there. She arched up, begging him for more with her body, and he knew Levy was close. However, she’d teased him all night, and he wasn’t done teasing her just yet.
“Not giggling anymore are you, miss?” he crooned, slowing his pace and giving her a chance to catch her breath.
“Please—don’t stop,” Levy gasped as she fought to keep moving.
“Don’t know if I should do that, Lev. Yer serving a long sentence already, or have you committed another count of being too sexy?”
She slipped her bound wrists around his neck.
“I have.”
Levy started to thrust on her own, wrapping her legs around him, trying to find the rhythm she craved. Gajeel felt her walls flutter against him and knew she was ready.
“It appears you have, and I’m gonna arrest you right this time.” Quickly slipping out of her core, Gajeel flipped her over so she was facing away from him. He pinned her hands, still tied with sparkling tights and slowly entered her. Weight pressed them forward just a hair, and he began to thrust once more.
Gajeel didn’t hold back this time as he laid into her. Levy shuddered under him as he gave her what she craved. Her heartbeat pounded in her ears, and Levy skirted the line between moans and screams of pleasure. Feeling her rise and fall, Gajeel drove them both full speed towards their climax. Words caught in Levy’s throat as she whimpered beneath him, needing release, and a few seconds later she had it. She spasmed as she rode out her high, clenching and relaxing so wildly Gajeel worried for a second he’d gone too far. The proceeding moan and smile over her shoulder eased his concern. Slowing, Gajeel fumbled for a pillow on the couch and tossed it to Levy to muffle a little of her vocal appreciation. They didn’t need to alert the neighbors—again.
He tilted them lower, breathing heavily as he worked up their pace again. Wetness coated his cock as it slid in and out of her with ease. Every thrust jiggled Levy’s ass, and Gajeel savored his extraordinary view. Another pang of heat quickly built deep in her core. With an arched back and forearms pressed against the floor, Levy’s entire body shook as he moved against her. The faster Gajeel went, the more Levy came to realize that she didn’t have a scrape of carpet burn. She chuckled to herself, admiring how soft it was.
A distant memory drifted to her mind of a lazy Saturday afternoon shopping for carpet. Gajeel had been adamant in telling her it would be worth it to pay a little extra for nice, soft carpet. At the time, Levy hadn’t understood why he’d been so intent on what seemed to be an inconsequential decision. This was why. Love welled within her as she recognized how much he cared for her comfort. He’d known that they’d end up together, fucking on the floor, and he’d prepared for when they did. Smiling, Levy decided she’d be sure to thank him for his wonderful call on the carpet when they were done. Maybe he’d find himself tangled on the floor with her again sooner rather than later.
Nearing his climax, Gajeel felt the telltale flutters indicating Levy was close to her own too. He wanted to get her there, feel her body convulse around him as she enjoyed what only he could give her. Reaching around her chest, he lifted Levy up as he tilted back, angling her hips above his own until he was able to slide even further in. Gajeel rested on his heels, holding his wife in his lap; her back, trickling with sweat, pressed into his chest. Her ass bouncing against his groin drove Gajeel wild, and he let loose a guttural moan. Levy was on the edge of ecstasy, he was too, and with a final flick of her clit he felt the intense throbbing through her body and surged into her, falling over the edge.
Gajeel’s orgasm shook them both as they gasped for air, crumpling around each other in exhaustion. He slipped out of her core, and they slowly relaxed, curling together into a ball as their hearts beat as one. Kissing the base of her neck, Gajeel broke their embrace. Levy’s bound wrists caught his attention, and he untied her, staring deep into her eyes.
“You look beautiful, Levy.”
She gazed back, admiring every inch of her incredible husband.
“So do you. Happy birthday, Gajeel.”
He placed a gentle kiss on Levy’s lips and helped them both to stand. Holding her close, Gajeel ran his fingers through her hair and whispered, “I gotta get some water. That was quite the workout.”
Levy nodded, and he stumbled into the kitchen. Cool water soothed Gajeel’s fatigue. When he returned to the living room, he was surprised to find that Levy was gone. Searching, he found a trail of discarded clothes leading to the bedroom with a sparkling fishnet tight draped over the handle. For the second time that night his wife surprised him. Levy sat kneeling on the bed, wearing his council uniform—unbuttoned. She stretched out a single finger and beckoned him over. Gajeel’s jaw dropped to the floor.
“Your hand at the end there—got me a little too excited, dear. How about you eat this, then me?” She offered him an iron cupcake. “Your birthday isn’t over yet.”
He licked his lips and downed the cupcake in a single bite. Energy flooded into his body.
“You don’t know what you’re asking for—councilwoman?”
Levy nodded, teasing him with the open jacket that just barely hung onto her breasts.
“Now, Gajeel, it’s my turn to arrest you,” she teased, pulling out a pair of handcuffs and clipping his wrist to the bed. “Hope that’s comfortable enough for you.” Gajeel laughed heartily and grabbed Levy with his free arm, pulling her close. They tangled together in a deep kiss.
“The best comfortable is when yer against me, Shrimp.”
Levy’s hand trailed over his cock, stroking him as she watched his face yield to pleasure. Sweat dripped down his brow and his chest heaved. Gajeel’s body gave into her touch. “I said, Mr. Redfox, you’re under arrest now.”

His Eyes
It was the fourth day Lucy had been sick. Though Levy was sorry to see her roommate so ill, she was damn near ready to shove half a bottle of Nyquil down the girl's throat if it would help. She knew it wouldn't. That didn't stop Levy from trying to calculate as much cold medicine she could possibly give her friend without killing her as the clock tower chimed the top of the hour, signaling the start of class. Curse Lucy's sick ass for leaving her alone in their materials class. It was the only advanced lecture she was taking this semester. Lucy had convinced her she'd be great at the work and needed a friend to fend off the cold, judging eyes of exhausted upperclassmen. Levy didn't mind taking a few extra hours and helping her best friend study, but if she could stomach skipping class she would have today. Sitting alone in that class made her feel so small and out of place. The professor droned as Levy glanced at the empty desk on her right over and over again, willing Lucy to materialize. Her concentration was at an all time low when a heavy thud interrupted the monotonous stream of definitions.
Levy had been so preoccupied with Lucy's absence that she hadn’t realized he wasn't in class either. The tall, red-eyed man she'd snuck glances at for the last month gave an apologetic look to the professor before scanning for an available seat. His gaze met Levy's and gave her a crooked smile. Each step he took made Levy's heart beat faster, and she immediately turned her attention back to the notebook when he sat down.
"Hey," the man whispered with a deep voice, "did I miss anything important?
Levy frantically shook her head ‘no’ as a blush warmed her cheeks. Of course it was just her luck that her secret crush would sit next to her the one day Lucy wasn't there. She fidgeted each time his eyes lingered on her instead of the board, losing the pace between her ears and her hand.
"What’re ya so nervous about, Shrimp? I don't bite," he said, flashing his teeth in a smile.
"I'm not nervous and I'm not a shrimp," Levy retorted.
"Ya look like a shrimp to me."
Levy puffed her cheeks in annoyance, glaring at him, daring him to insult her again, when she realized he was wearing glasses. It wasn't typical for him to wear them; she hadn't even known he'd needed lenses until now. The professor coughed loudly in annoyance, and Levy bit down on her pride, settling back in her seat to refocus on the lecture. Concentration didn't come easily when they occasionally brushed shoulders taking notes. His broad chest and muscular arms made him just a little too big to fit well in the tiny lecture hall desk.
The tips of her ears burned just being next to him. He was much more handsome up close than from glimpses across the room. She could see distinct scars on his left arm and count his multitude of piercings. Levy could even smell the woody pine from his wild, black hair, and it allured her. Everything about him allured her; she couldn't help but try and take in his details. Warring with her sense of studious responsibility, Levy got lost in his ruby eyes. She couldn't help but notice the piercing, red tone before, but this time, outlined by his glasses, she could see the confidence and wonder inside them. Light glinted off the frameless edge, and she could glimpse the beautiful gem buried beneath his rough exterior. The complexities hidden there were stunning, every plane refracted a different shade of red, begging her to look closer and find his core.
"Why are ya staring at me, shorty?"
Levy blinked, shattering the spell that had captured her. "You just look different is all," she paused, thinking, "more studious I guess. I'm not used to you looking that way."
A momentary blush brightened his cheeks, clearly taken aback by her response. "Well, usually I wear contacts, but I kinda scratched one during my last boxing match. So glasses it is til my next pair comes in. Besides, I'm at the top of the class. Don't need glasses to see that."
"Really?" she asked, amused. The man had inconsistent attendance at best from what Levy could remember.
"Ya. This," he motioned to his scribbled figures and notes, "is the foundation of what I do." The jewel-like gleam came back to his eyes. "Everything is made up of something else. If I know what that something is and how it fits together with other things, I can figure out how to create anything." He took in a long breath, turning to stare at her. "And I'm the best. Always."
Levy returned his unspoken challenge. "Usually I'm the best in the room."
"Not this time, shorty. I'm top score according to the automatic rankings that came out this morning." His cocky smile widened. "I guess that just makes you the youngest here. Sure yer even old enough for college?" The man's eyes gave away hidden laughter with every word.
Levy's blood was about to boil. "I'm the same age as Lucy thank you very much, and I've been here for over a year. Just cause I'm cute doesn't mean I can't beat your ass at crystal structures." The space between them was shrinking quickly.
"I'd like to see you try." His words hung in the air over them, daring Levy to be bold. Every bit of fire in her soul reflected back at her in his eyes. She'd show him just what she was capable of.
A jarring cough stirred the silence in the room. "Do we have a problem on the right?"
Levy suddenly realized just how close she was to this infuriating, attractive man. The spark between them shot them back into their seats, both blushing furiously as they sank down to avoid further scrutiny.
"Feel free to go if you've got something better to do. It's your grade and your money."
An audible peep escaped Levy before she could utter through a tight jaw, "No sir, please continue the lecture."
Muffled laughter vibrated in the man's chest, and it irritated her even more. Levy’s blush nearly overtook her face when she turned away, pursing her lips into a tight bundle of pink.
"What?" the man snickered, "First time getting called out by a professor?"
Levy was near seething. Something about his red eyes stirred such intense emotion in her. "As a matter of fact it is, and I'd care to not have it happen again."
He cocked his head to the side. "Ehhh you'll get over it. I've had it happen so much I hardly hear it anymore." Levy noticed him chuckle at the memory, and the softness she had seen before crept back into his eyes. "I took a lot more offence when I was a freshman I guess."
"Sophomore. I'm a sophomore," she retorted.
"Ok, shrimpmore. I get it."
Levy tossed her head back in exasperation. His teasing clearly knew no bounds. She stewed in her chair for a minute, tapping her pencil and biting her lip. Then the man utterly surprised her. Little laughs escaped his lips as a wide smile spread across his face. Mirth gleamed in his eyes.
"Yer cuter when yer mad."
Levy was taken aback. She watched as this big, studded man next to her sat there giggling, and her anger slowly dissipated.
"You're cuter in glasses."
It was his turn to be taken aback. Onyx locks covered part of his face as he looked down, smiling thoughtfully. Levy let her hair cover her blush too; she couldn't believe she'd been so bold.
"Oh, really?" he asked, face composed once again. Then he wrote his number on a piece of paper and gave it to her with a cocky smile. "I think yer even cuter when yer reading—yer not the only one who notices things." Standing up, he shouldered his bag and added, "Name's Gajeel. Shoot me a text if you wanna hang out." Gajeel leaned in close, resting his arm on the desk and giving her a wink. "Or if ya need some tutoring. Oh, tell blondie if she misses class much more she's gonna lose her spot. I'll see ya on Thursday—unless ya just can't help but text me first." Levy scribbled out her number and gave it to him.
"Levy McGarden. In case you just can't help but text me first."
"Touché miss McGarden. I look forward to hearing from you." He took the paper and walked away with a flick of the wrist goodbye. Levy watched him leave, savoring the way his muscles pressed against his shirt and how his hair swayed on his back.
She sank from her seat to the floor and covered her face with her hands. What the hell just happened? Hot piercing guy had talked to her, even flirted with her. Well, he'd pissed her off to no end, but the banter had also felt electric. Thoughts ran through Levy’s mind a million miles a minute. She had to bite down on her lip just to keep from squealing. Footsteps and the thud of the door reminded her that the next class would be coming in soon. Levy gathered her bag quickly and ran out of the lecture hall. A buzz at her hip almost startled her out of her shoes. There was a text from Lucy.
Hey girl! Sorry I had to bail, but I'm still pretty sick. I hope it wasn't weird sitting alone. Notes + Chicken soup delivery plz <3
Levy sighed as her heart began to calm; Lucy had a sixth sense about these things.
Well…I don't really have the notes from today…but girl do I have a story! Remember hot piercing guy? He kinda flirted with me in class. I'll be home with soup & details asap :)
Thanks to @whereisthefood123 for the request! This was a longer one for me. I really wanted to explore the story that led to our lovely couple being in this situation. I also tried my hand at some angst, but never fear, there are some fluffy moments too. This is NSFW cause let’s face it I’m writing. I hope you enjoy! Send me a comment, ask, tag, whatever you feel like. I love hearing about your reactions and what worked in a piece. Ok, I won’t drone on any longer, enjoy!

Bruised and Battered
“Guys, I’m alright, really!” Levy stammered through ground teeth. She wasn’t alright and they knew it. Still, they knew they were no longer welcome. Levy was upset and needed to rest. Jet and Droy hung their heads as Levy closed the door behind them. There was nothing they could do for her but dress her wounds. She needed to be alone. Levy sank to the floor of her apartment and wailed. She was covered in cuts, burns, and bruises; her scalp was crusted with blood—her blood. It was supposed to be an easy job, and she hadn’t been strong enough to save anyone.
The bandits had known they were coming. Team Shadow gear had decided to take a rest about two miles from town and discuss their plan. The job was simple. A group of about ten bandits, with two mages at their disposal, had been targeting a small town just off a major trade route. A job had been posted in the guild to remove the bandits. The group had taken on plenty of jobs like this before, so it seemed like a logical choice. They would follow the same plan as always when dealing with bandits, a trap. They even had a plan for the mages; Levy couldn’t stand going on a job without a plan. Levy would act as bait to draw the group out, and Jet would kick up a dust storm with his high speed magic to confuse them. Droy’s plants could immobilize the normal members, and Levy and Jet would take out the mages. If things got hairy with so many members, Levy could always make a cage with her solid script magic, allowing Droy to assist in the magic battle. It was their tried and true method, and it was their downfall.
One of the mages working with the bandits used telepathy magic and prepared an ambush for the Fairy Tail wizards. As Levy stood up from her seat, she was hit by a bolt of lightning. She screamed in pain as her brain tried to comprehend the situation. Droy was tackled by three bandits, preventing him from accessing the seeds his plant magic worked through. Jet was being chased by five others, some desperately hanging onto any appendage they could grab to slow him down. Shit. A surprise attack. The mages focused on Levy. If she went down, the others would no doubt follow shortly. A flurry of sparks exploded around her head, dazing her as she tried to dodge the wooden club the other mage swung. What was happening? The air was forced from her lungs with a blow to her side and Levy crumpled to her knees. This wasn’t good. She needed to do something. Searing pain tore through her body as she took a direct hit from the lightning mage. Levy felt her head spinning as her heart raced in panic. The wooden club hit her hip and she screamed again. Wood. That was it. Levy brought up a barrier of wood in an attempt to stave off the lightning bolts. Levy turned to find her teammates. Droy had managed to get ahold of some of his seeds, and his plants were picking off the bandits one at a time. Jet had also shaken his attackers; there were two bandits groaning on the floor. Her voice was hoarse as she tried to call out to them. No good. She inhaled deeply as her fingers began to write, and then everything went white. Levy could feel blood trickling into her ear as she fell. When had her protective spell failed? Then there was another crack. Every nerve in her body screamed. She screamed. A deafening howl coursed through their battle ground, and her teammates blood curdled. Levy didn’t even hear them call her name as she hit the dirt.
Levy flinched at the memory of the final blow before she’d been knocked unconscious. Her heart raced with the reminded fear, but she steeled herself. She needed to keep moving, to do something, to not drift into that nightmare again. It was already past midnight. She’d lost herself in the throes of her terror for a few hours now. Levy trudged to the shower and hoped the hot water would wash away her fear and blood. While it stung, it did manage to stop her hands from shaking. As Levy stepped out of the bathroom, clad only in a towel, she heard a loud banging on the door.
“Just a minute!” Levy called. As quickly as her injuries allowed her, she shuffled to her room and tossed on one of the oversized shirts she occasionally wore to bed. This one was Gajeel’s, and wearing it comforted her to some degree. The rasping on the door hadn’t stopped. “Hold on! I’m coming as fast as I can,” Levy yelled curtly as she made her way to the front door. She wasn’t moving fast, and the knocking still hadn’t subsided. Tossing her door open Levy barked, “What!?” Her throat was sore from her screaming and crying. Before she registered who was there, she was overtaken by a large mass of onyx hair. It covered her in a tight embrace and pinned her against a heaving chest. Levy balked for a moment before she recognized the smell of trees and iron. It was Gajeel. Crap, it was Gajeel. She had hoped she’d be able to avoid him until at least tomorrow when she went to the guild. She should’ve known better.
“Shrimp! Just what in the hell were ya thinking!” Gajeel yelled as he thrust her away. He carefully examined her battered form.
Levy meekly responded, “I…”
“And to find out from Lily! Who only knew because he ran into Jet and Droy on the way home!” he roared.
Levy was frustrated and tired, “Look…”
“I should’ve been the first place ya came when ya got back! Ya should’ve called me with a communication lacrima as soon as you were ok!”
“Gajeel, please.”
“Levy! Do you not get it? You could’ve died!” He grabbed her again, and drew her close. Softly, he repeated, his voice shaking, “Levy, you could’ve died.” They collapsed onto the floor, sobbing. His hands grasped her firmly, and she ignored the pain from her burns. Her fingers were laced in his hair, pulling him down to cover her. Levy cried uncontrollably into her dragon’s shirt. A little while later, their tears dried and they regained control of their breathing.
“I was knocked out so fast. I wasn’t strong enough” Levy said between sniffles. Her head hung low, averting her eyes.
“Shrimp. What the fuck?” Gajeel asked as he gently lifted her chin, “Yer plenty strong. Yer the strongest one on that damn team of yours.”
“I was the first to go down. The only one to go down! I couldn’t help anyone. They utterly—”
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Gajeel’s voice was like steel. “Why didn’t ya let me know the second ya were in town?” He stared her dead in the eye. “I’m yer man. I’m supposed to be here for ya, right?”
“Yeah.” Levy began rubbing her aching forehead. “I don’t know. I was embarrassed. I didn’t want you to see me like this.”
“I want to see you every time you look like this.” Gajeel helped her to her feet, and Levy shot him a confused glance. “And when yer done being silly about stupid things, I’ll take care of ya. Come on.” Gajeel guided her to the couch and laid down. She followed, curling into him. They barely fit on her small couch, but she didn’t mind. She was starting to feel at peace. Levy could feel his heartbeat through the thin cloth on her back. Gajeel stroked her head and anywhere she wasn’t burned or bruised. He wanted to take away all her pain, but now right he needed rest. Gajeel inhaled deeply and did his best to lull her to sleep. Nuzzling her neck, he whispered, “From now on, I’ll go with you. I’ll be here to protect you. I’m your personal cuddle dragon for tonight.” Levy chuckled, and between the rhythmic stroking, thump of his heart, and warmth from his hold Levy drifted off.
The smell of stir fry and rice tickled Levy’s nose as she roused. She noticed she’d been covered in a blanket, and Gajeel—Gajeel was gone. Slowly, Levy righted herself until she was sitting properly on the couch. It was dark except for a single light in the kitchen. She blinked a few times as her eyes adjusted. Gajeel was hunched over her stove, and a lovely aroma of garlic, green onion, and ginger spread through her apartment. Levy yawned and began to stretch her neck. Sleeping on the couch always left her with a few sore spots.
“Hey, ya up shorty?” Gajeel called over the sizzle of the stir fry.
“Yeah. That smells wonderful, Gajeel,” Levy yawned. Her stomach growled audibly and a bright blush lit up her cheeks. “How’d you know I’d be hungry?”
“Just figured. Knowing you, ya probably kept running through the attack in yer head instead of taking care of yerself once ya got here. Ya need to eat if ya wanna get better,”
“You’re right,” Levy sighed, “that’s exactly what I did. I—I don’t even remember the last time I ate.”
Gajeel chuckled, “That’s what I’m here for.”
“My personal cuddle dragon for the night?” Levy teased.
Gajeel blushed. “I was just trying to make ya laugh and calm down.”
Levy smiled and giggled, “Well, it worked.”
“Ok, it’s ready. Ya didn’t have much to work with here, Shrimp, but I think it came out alright.”
Levy moved to stand and winced.
Gajeel shot her an exasperated look. “Don’t be an idiot. I’ll bring it to ya.” He began to gather bowls and cutlery.
“Thanks.” Levy eased back into as comfortable a position as she could find on the couch. “I’m not really used to being so…well…beaten up, I guess.”
Gajeel looked her over for a long minute. She really had taken a tough beating. He blinked away a tear. Levy didn’t have iron scales like him; she was fragile. “Would some tea help?” Gajeel planted a steaming mug in front of her.
Levy inhaled deeply. It was Jasmine tea, her favorite. Gajeel seemed to know more of her quirks than she’d thought. She watched him as he brought over their bowls. He looked quite handsome with his hair tied back in a bandana. She ran her bandaged hand through her locks. They were sticking out at every angle, she was sure she looked like a mess.
“Eat.” Gajeel ordered as he slumped down next to her.
“You know, Gajeel, you didn’t need to do this,” Levy said bashfully as she took her food.
“I said I’m taking care of ya and that’s what I’m gonna do. Even you can’t stop me, Shrimp.”
He was already scarfing down his food. Levy hadn’t even thought about how he was coping. It was probably hard on him to see her like this. “Ok. I won’t stop you.”
They finished their bowls in silence. Levy wasn’t quite sure what was supposed to happen next. Gajeel darted off to her room and returned with the book she’d left on her nightstand. He sat with his back on the arm of the couch and spread his legs to make room for her. “Ya get half an hour. Lemme know if anything hurts too much.”
Levy eagerly took the book from his outstretched hand. “Only half an hour?” she whined. Gajeel was silent. “Fine.” Levy snuggled with her back against his chest and began to read. Gajeel carefully rubbed her back and shoulders, aware of every flinch when he pressed a tender area. Still, it felt good. Levy’s muscles ached, but just his touch made her feel better. Even holding back, he was a bit strong for her, and she grit her teeth through the pain. She knew that a tough massage would help her muscles, even if it hurt now, and he was trying his best to help her.
“Alrighty. Time for bed.” He scooped her into his arms and carried her to her room.
Levy puffed her cheeks as the sudden motion caused her to drop her book. “Gajeel, really, you don’t need to go this far.” Levy looked up at him only to receive a glare. “Ok, ok.” With that, she let him place her on the bed. Gajeel grabbed his bandana and tossed it on the floor, then began to peel off his shirt. “Are you staying? Shadow Gear will be back in the morning to help me out, you don’t need to—”
“Lev.” He was facing her, moonlight from the window illuminating his bare skin. Gajeel really looked as if he was painted with iron. “I almost lost you today. I told ya, from now on, I go with you.”
Levy smiled, she was again on the verge of tears. Her dragon would always be there to protect her, to make her feel safe. She didn’t need to be scared. She had Shadow Gear, and they had saved her, but this was different. He looked at her like she was his treasure, and she knew a dragon would guard his treasure with his life. “Alright.”
Gajeel’s smile turned from relief to wickedness. “Plus. I didn’t come here so late at night just to cuddle. That woulda been selfish, and I’m not that kinda guy. I came to take care of ya” he paused, “and to make ya feel better.” Gajeel gingerly cupped Levy’s face and bent down for a long, tender kiss. She was his dainty treasure. He kissed her neck all the way down to her collarbone. “Why don’t I help ya with this?” Levy nodded. He pulled up his shirt, it really did engulf her, and tossed it to the side. He looked at her for a moment. Taking in the sight of Levy: bruised, battered, and beautiful as she was bathed in the moonlight. The bruises across her ribs were perfectly visible. As long as he didn’t hurt her he wasn’t going to stop.
Gajeel sat on the bed and pulled her by her underwear into his lap. He kissed her collarbone, circling and placing gentle pecks on some bruises; she didn’t seem to mind. His hands ran circles around her ass. It felt like his cock hardened instantly as Levy moaned softly. This was exactly what he’d hoped for. She wasn’t in pain. He ventured lower, running his tongue around her breasts. He could feel her ass lifting involuntarily as she pressed herself against his lips. He moved one hand to her left nipple and circled it with his thumb as he sucked on her right, gently grabbing the tip with his teeth and twisting slightly from side to side. He knew it would drive her mad with pleasure, and it did. He felt the muscles in her back relax as she fell further into him. Her moans became deeper as he sucked harder, and he switched effortlessly to the other breast, repeating his wonderful torture.
Gajeel snuck a hand under her panties as he returned to her lips. She kissed him eagerly, her tongue practically begging him for more. She grabbed his back, running her hands over his muscles. She loved to feel them and he knew it. He took a special pride in those muscles, and since he’d first claimed her, he’d made sure they were well developed. Gajeel toyed with her clit, she was so wet, so gorgeous as she turned to putty under his firm hands. Her nails dug into his back as he played with her. He knew all her curves, and during her massage he’d been sure to memorize the places she was too tender to be touched. Levy moaned louder as he dipped a finger into her core. She thrust her head back as he picked up speed; he felt her hard tips ticking his own nipples as she bounced against him. It was torture trying to contain himself, but she wasn’t quite ready.
Tenderly, he laid her onto her back and set to work, teasing her with his mouth over her underwear. Occasionally he nipped at her thighs, they were too soft and jiggled too wonderfully to ignore entirely. Levy’s mewls of pleasure became higher and more strained, and Gajeel knew she was getting close. He grabbed the fabric with his teeth and swiftly tore it from her soaked folds. Finally, she was completely bare. Gajeel wasted no time and dove back in, sucking feverishly on her clit as his fingers pinched and twisted her nipples. She was so close. Gajeel couldn’t take it anymore, the smell of her need was intense and his cock needed to be inside her. He released one hand from her soft flesh and thrust into her with his finger, curling inside of her until she cried out and her walls began to contract around him. He kept his lips firm against her has she rode out her orgasm.
Levy was breathing heavily when he finally released her. Gajeel tore himself from his desire as he walked to the door. Her head was still in the clouds, and she didn’t register the sound of his boots and belt hitting the floor, nor the rush of fabric as he kicked off his pants. “Gajeel, where are you–”
The lights went out. Then she felt his hot skin press against her again. He ground himself against her core, eagerly coating his length in her wetness. Gajeel kissed her again, strong and eager. “I’m not going anywhere. I haven’t made ya feel better, yet.”
Hey yall! Thanks for bearing with me through finals. It definitely had me stressed out, so I figured we could use some fluff to help release that tension ;) Thanks to @kmmcm for the request. I’m on to the next one! Fair warning, this most definitely gets NSFW. I'd love to know what y'all think! Leave me some notes in the comments or tags or drop by my ask box. I'm happy to chat. The Game
Yes! It was here. Of course he'd make her climb to the top shelf to get the damn clue. Gajeel just loved to remind her of how short she was.
Almost done Shrimp. Yer a smart one. Have fun climbing up here? I bet yer ass looked cute as hell wiggling your way up the cabinets. Yer shadow probably had a great view.
Levy snapped her head to stare at the floor. She thought she caught a wisp of black darting out of the room. Gajeel and his shadow form were becoming quite annoying. She sighed, of course he'd been watching her.
Here's yer last clue before ya get yer prize. You can find me at home.
Home, her apartment at Fairy Hills? Was it really that simple? None of the other clues had been so straightforward, and that wasn't the point of their game. Levy leaned against the cabinets, analyzing every word. She ran her fingers through her hair, twirling and pulling it every which way, willing herself to understand his clue. She began to pace back and forth when her foot slipped on a puddle of water. Levy cursed. She'd been so concerned with figuring out the clue, she'd forgotten she was on the kitchen counter and not the floor.
"Solid Script: Soft!" she yelled. The spell caught her mere inches above the ground. Levy hit the word with a thud. Sighing, she rested her head on the "S" like a pillow. Levy knew she could be careless when she was working on a problem. Her brain would block everything out until she found what she sought. Levy's eyes wandered to the clock, and she realized she'd been playing his game all day.
There had been a devilish look in his eyes when he'd handed her the first clue. She'd been having breakfast at the guild hall when Gajeel had sauntered in and planted himself behind her. Levy remembered the hair on her neck standing on end when he'd bent down and whispered that she was now playing his game. If she won, he'd give her a prize. He'd playfully bit her earlobe and walked away, laughing. The blush that had sprouted on her cheeks didn’t dissipate for a long five minutes, and she'd gotten questioning stares from everyone who'd been in the hall. Levy had played it off as another one of his jokes about her height. She was now ten clues in, and he'd taken her everywhere around the guild.
Home. His home? Was he going to ask her to move in? They'd only been dating a month. No one was even supposed to know about them. It couldn't be that. Home. Somewhere special? The guild? Home.
"Levy?" Mira gasped, "What are you doing on the floor? I heard a crash and ran in here and you're--"
"Oh, I kinda fell. Sorry to worry you, Mira. I'm fine," Levy interrupted, her cheeks were on fire again.
"What were you even doing in the kitchen?" Mirajane questioned, her eyes narrowing. Levy froze. "I never expected you to be in here. You're always in the library,” she chuckled, “sometimes it seems like you live there."
"I just needed something. Uh, you were busy, so I just came in and got it myself. Thanks, Mira!" Levy stammered as she frantically rose to her feet and darted out of the kitchen.
The library. Of course, he was in the library. It made perfect sense. As Levy dashed down to the guild's library, she knew she'd won. Throwing back the doors to her favorite room, she stood in disbelief. He wasn't there. Gajeel had to be there. Cautiously, Levy walked through the door.
"Gajeel! I know you're here," Levy called, her voice echoing among the bookcases. She began walking up and down the familiar rows. She had been wandering for several minutes and was starting to doubt her earlier certainty when a husky voice came from behind her.
"Congratulations, Miss Levy, looks like you've earned your prize."
Levy squeaked, jumping straight up. Gajeel caught her legs and waist with his arms and pressed her into one of the bookcases.
"My, my, Miss McGarden, jumping into a man's arms without even looking to see who he is first. You're pretty bold," Gajeel teased.
"Gajeel! You need to stop sneaking up behind me." Levy pouted, crossing her arms across her chest.
He couldn't help but laugh. "I'm just having a little fun with ya, Shrimp."
"So…where's my prize?"
Gajeel set her down on the ground and fished around his pocket. He presented her a book wrapped with ribbon. "Here ya go, Shrimp. Ya won it fair and square."
Levy took the book, smiling. "Thank you, Gajeel, but why did you get this for me?"
"Cause you're special, and I want things to stay special." He wrapped his arms around her, holding her close.
"I don't like you because you buy me gifts. I like you for you," Levy cooed, looking up at him with longing eyes. They embraced for a minute, savoring the warmth they shared. Gajeel smiled and tucked a strand of blue hair behind Levy's ear.
"Ya know why I did this today?" he asked, kissing her on the cheek.
Levy blushed and giggled, "Why? It was actually pretty fun."
"It's been a month since we've gotten together, and I've never been happier. Why can't we let other people know?" he paused, tilting her chin up to ensure she was looking him in the eye. "It's hot sneaking around, but I want everyone to know you're mine." Gajeel ran his hand along the side of her figure, lingering at her breasts and hips.
"Aww, Gajeel, that's so sweet." Levy broke their gaze. "I'm…I'm not sure. What will the others say? Honestly, I'm worried." Her pace quickened, she was getting flustered. "Things are really great right now. What if it's because the others don’t know? We'll be teased by everyone!" He could feel her starting to shake. "We won't have any time to ourselves. No peace and quiet to try and make this work. They'll always be breathing down our necks. I just--"
Gajeel shushed her with a finger to her lips. "Quiet, Levy. It's time for your punishment."
"Eehh?" Levy squeaked as she jerked her head back to meet his eyes.
Gajeel flashed her a wild grin. "You took all day to find me," he mused, grabbing her hips and pushing her against the bookcase. "I got bored." There was no longer any space between them. Gajeel's face hovered against her cheek. "Gihihi. I thought ya woulda figured out the clues faster with that big ol' brain of yers." He pinned Levy against the books and kissed her hard. She melted under his heat. His hand cupped her neck as his tongue began to explore her mouth. Their kiss left Levy breathless. When they finally came up for air, Gajeel pressed a gentle kiss to Levy's nose. "If you'd relied on your senses more, you coulda sniffed me out."
Levy scoffed, "I'm not a dragon slayer, I don’t have heightened senses or anything like that."
Gajeel scooped her into his arms and carried her to a nearby table. "Well then, guess I'm gonna need to make sure ya know my scent. We're not leaving here until you do." He laid her prone on the table and leaned down to her ear. "I'm gonna fuck you so hard the only thing you'll be able to think of is my scent." Levy went scarlet. Gajeel slowly climbed on top of her. It was so fun to tease her. The Shrimp would turn bright red with just the least bit of dirty talk. "I don't give a damn what anyone in the guild thinks or says. If you want to keep this a secret that's your job now. I want my woman, and I'm not holding back." Gajeel hungrily kissed her again. He was already rock hard from all the teasing.
Levy pressed her lips together, desperately stifling her moans of pleasure as Gajeel ran his hands along her body. He removed each piece of clothing slowly, enjoying her muffled squeals as she tried to stay quiet. She gasped as he removed her underwear and began to rub his thumb against her clit. His other fingers explored her folds, he pumped his index finger in and out of her core, and curled it inside her until she arched her back and loosed another gasp.
"Gihihi. Now this game. You're gonna lose this game, Levy." With that, Gajeel dropped his head and grabbed her slit with his lips. He circled her pearl with his tongue as his hand played with her core. Levy was dripping with desire, and Gajeel knew it was only a matter of time before she'd cave.
Levy's thoughts were a blur as she bit hard on her lips. Gajeel knew how to tease her in every way she loved. She was more than ready for him to take her. Every brush of his tongue racked her brain with pleasure, and she began to lose her inhibitions. Levy couldn’t hold back much longer. Maybe it was time to tell the others. She felt him suck hard on her most sensitive spot. Their game was over.
"Ahhhhhh, Gajeel!" Levy screamed as a deep moan erupted from her lips and she climaxed. Crap. She cringed as she realized how loud she'd been. It had probably almost reached the main hall. Gajeel's lips were back on hers as he kissed her passionately, covered in his prize from her orgasm. They definitely weren't a secret anymore.
Hey guys! Here’s a Fairy Tail one-shot for Gajevy requested by the wonderful and amazing @the-mysterious-redfox. She’s been dying to get me to post something so here ya go! It gets just a bit NSFW-ish at times. Please leave a comment or anything really if ya like! I love feedback.
Prompt: Blanket fort
Pairing: Gajevy
Length: 1.6k
Gajeel was sorely tired from the past week and everyone knew it. He had been lashing out at the entire guild, even Levy. He knew he’d crossed a line, but dammit he was upset. On his last mission, Lily had been injured because Gajeel had been overzealous. They’d taken on an entire dark guild together, and he was so arrogant to think his Iron Dragon Roar would take them all down and keep them there. He was wrong. One wizard came at Gajeel from behind as he was singing his own praises. Lily had reacted, taking out the wizard, but received a nasty wound to his abdomen in the process. His partner was in the infirmary and would be there for some time, and it was all his fucking fault.
Gajeel could feel a haze of anger, regret, and frustration build around him with every step he took home. Finally there, he opened the door expecting Levy to give him the cold shoulder. He wouldn’t like it, but he understood. He’d screwed up and needed to pay the price for his actions. Walking inside his home, for the second time this week he was wrong.
The room was lit with the soft glow of twinkling lacrimas, and Gajeel could hear the patter of rain. It hadn’t been raining outside, had it? Was he so removed from the world that he hadn’t noticed? No, his clothes were dry. The large couch in the living room was piled with pillows and blankets. The chairs had been pulled from their normal positions in the kitchen and covered with sheets to make what appeared to be a tent. He could even smell the faint aroma of cookie dough coming from underneath the sheets. Had he accidentally walked into his neighbor’s house? Was he passed out somewhere daydreaming? Then he smelled her. His Shrimp was in the that mass of fluff and she was coming out. Levy popped her head out of the fort.
“Gajeel, you’re home!” she squeaked as a wide smile graced her face. He was awestruck. She wasn’t mad at him or yelling at him; she was smiling, looking excited to see him. Levy was on all fours as she wiggled her way out of her creation. Her foot was caught in a blanket and she made a humph noise as she shook it loose. It was too cute for Gajeel to bear, and a light blush sprouted on his cheeks. After dislodging herself, she stood in front of him expectantly.
“Uhh…look, Shrimp,” he mumbled, his blush deepening. “I’m sorry for yelling at ya before. I’m just fuckin.” He didn’t have a chance to finish his statement as she hushed him with a finger to his lips.
“I know you didn’t mean it Gajeel, and I know you’re hurting. Please don’t blame yourself for what happened to Lily,” her voice slightly more than a whisper.
“I can’t. It’s my fault” he rumbled, tears beginning to form in the corners of his eyes. She stopped him again, cupping his cheek with her delicate hand. Gajeel caught a whiff of lavender and cookie dough. Her smell was intoxicating.
“No more of that. I’m going to help you feel better” Levy crooned, grabbing his hand and pulling him to the floor. “This was my happy place when I was a child. Inside my fort with some cookie dough and a good book the world couldn’t hurt me. I was safe. I want you to feel that way too,” she explained. Gajeel bumped his head and back crawling under the tent of covers. This was supposed to be fun? He could barely move around without nearly knocking the damn thing down. Clearly, the Shrimp had forgotten just how much larger he was. This was definitely a shrimp sized fort. Still, she was trying to make him feel better, so he continued despite his discomfort.
Levy curled up on the couch in a pile of pillows with a tiny mage sized dent in it. She had been reading there for a while. On the floor, next to her nest, was the bowl of cookie dough and a cup of tea. Gajeel tried to get comfortable, spreading out as best he could, but he was sorely oversized for this creation. He sat on the ground with his head resting against the couch. He noticed the pile of books in the corner and leaned over to check the titles. None seemed appealing. With a sigh the decided he would just sleep, but as he was pulling back he knocked over the sweets. Shit. He straightened to clean the mess but his elbow rested too long on one of the lights. Fuck. His arm spasmed and his hand knocked the tea onto the rug. Another fucking mess from the man who can’t do anything right. He roared and launched himself out of the fort. Gajeel stood to his full height, grateful to be able to stretch again. Levy balked at the sudden noise. She had been so absorbed in her story and Gajeel’s fumblings had gone unnoticed. The bluenette scrambled out of the tent to see what had upset him. He was pacing in the living room, grabbing and shaking his head, mumbling curses to himself.
“What’s wrong?” she asked, reaching to grab him into a hug. He pushed away. Gajeel wanted to hold back, to not yell at her again, but he was too riled up to pretend he was ok.
“That tent thing is too damn small. I can’t sit, I keep knocking shit over, I’m a fucking lug that can’t do a damn thing right.” He let loose another roar and turned back to look at Levy. He could see she was confused and shaken up.
“This was something that calmed me down as a child. I was just trying to share it with you,” she barked. “So what if it was small, we can make it bigger. Stop pushing everyone away!” Levy was getting worked up as well, but he wasn’t backing down.
“I don’t need a fort to feel better. I need my partner to be ok!” He threw his head down and smashed his firsts against the wall. She was right, but he couldn’t shake his guilt.
“Maybe if you tried it you’d like it” she suddenly grew quiet. Her voice started to waiver, “I wanted to give you a piece of my childhood—to help you since you never really had one.” Gajeel could hear her begin to sob before she let out a ferocious, “Don’t you understand that!”
That was what this was about. She had tears rolling down her cheeks. Levy was still mad at him from the first time, but was trying to find a common ground. She was trying to bring him close, and he had shoved it in her face. He’d rejected her help and hurt her again.
“Lev, look. I’m sorry I yelled—both times. You don’t need to try and give me back a childhood. I’m not a kid anymore. I’m a big ass grown man. I’m fine with the things I missed,” he was surprisingly calm now.
“I just wanted to help. Why don’t you want a childhood? How are you ok with not having any of that? It was so important to me. I fell in love with some of my favorite books in these forts,” her sobbing was slowing.
“I’m ok with not having those memories cause I’ll have em later,” a blush lit up his face as he continued, “I’m a dragon sized adult and while this is fun for shrimp sized people it doesn’t suit me right now.” Gajeel grabbed her close and pulled her into a tight embrace, stroking her head down to the back of her neck. “Please understand, my childhood made me who I am and while it sucked I wouldn’t change it. Yer what’s important to me right now. Don’t get stuck in my past. I’ve worked hard to move on from it.” Levy let out a small sniffle, calm once again.
“Ok. So, what do you want to do with it? Should we take it down?” Her eyes went glossy at the thought.
“Nah. Ya like it so much, keep it for a while. Ya can read there." Unsure of what to do now that she was alright, he mumbled, "I think I need to work out some of this stress. That’s how dragons deal with stuff right?” A fire stirred in Levy’s stomach. She had said she’d help him feel better and dammit she was a woman of her word, and she had the perfect idea for her man.
“Well, there are some adult things we can do with the fort,” she purred seductively. Every thought immediately fell out of Gajeel’s head at those words. “I said I was going to make you feel better, and I know just what to do.” Heat radiated out of Gajeel as she maneuvered him down to the floor. He could feel his pants tightening around him.
In the fort now, although he was half sticking out, he finally felt the comfort his Shrimp had been talking about. The most mesmerizing thing, though, was his little blue fairy on top of him, laying soft kisses along his neck as she pulled off his shirt. He lost himself in the feeling of her mouth against his skin before he grabbed her and pulled her back to his face. He laid a deep kiss onto her lips as he turned her to lay her head on the pillows. He’d make her feel as fucking amazing as she was; his urges were raging inside his body, barely being contained. Maybe they’d have to make a fort together sometime soon; he could get used to this.
