My brother baddy from another daddy (gender-neutral, affectionate),
Let’s talk food. Fresh raspberries and grapes, roasted onion, potatoes, chicken, and what we hope were rabbits and other small game animals. That’s fancy dinner for when elven general-queens are guests/prisoners.
(In many ways I suspect it’s Adar not only doing a birdlike mating display of Look, see how well I furnish my nest? but also showing off that he can take better/more courteous care of his prisoners than Galadriel.)
But what does regular day-to-day dinner look like? Do we really think the Uruk are using forks and knives and romantic candle-lit table-settings?
Okay so the romantic candle-lit dinner FUCKING THREW ME. I have absolutely no reason to believe the uruks are eating that well on the regular, which leads me to conclude... they sacked the SHIT out of some elven homesteads on the way to Eregion. I think pretty much everything you see there, they've likely pillaged (i mean, PICKLES?!?!? The uruks aren't growing and canning those in Mordor.)
I could see them foraging, though, so berries and root veg I'd give you. Same with the game birds, they definitely could have hunted those. But PICKLES? Suss.
In general, I think Uruks prefer red meat to anything else. I think an uruk diet would be mostly carnivorous, and in Mordor after the explosion, I expect things would have been pretty lean. I could see them wasting NOTHING... so like, soup from bones, eating every part of the animal, eating rats and mice, and whatever other game they can hunt. Like it's a good thing they didn't catch Berek, because 15/10 he'd have been dinner.
