THE   SIGHT  OF  TEARS  IN  THEIR  EYES  MAKES  HIS  HEART  ACHE ,   but   the   BITTER   part   of   himself   refuses   to   give   in   just   yet .    “ weren’t  you ? ”   he   mutters   sarcastically ,   head   tilting   as   he   forces   himself   to   meet   their   gaze .    “ because   it   sure   felt   like   you   were   ditching   me . ”   head   shakes ,   gaze   shifting   back   down   to   the   ground ,   unable   to   stomach   ANY  of   this ,   despite   how   he’s    been   trying   to   make   it   worse .   exhaling ,   his   eyes   shut   for   a   moment ,   hands   going   limp   at   his   sides   as   he   feels   some   of   the   anger   dissipate .    “ we   always   told   each   other   everything ,   tivsi . ”    he   whispers ,   tone  full   of   DEFEAT  as  hurt  eyes   raise   to   meet   theirs   again .   “ you  could   have  just ...  told   me .   i   could   have   come   with   you . ”    at   least   then   he   could’ve   saved   the   place   from   being   BURNT    to   the   ground .   “ why   didn’t   you ? ”

“Like WHAT? Like can we focus on getting out of here ALIVE and think about profit later?” stowed away in some cargo hold with who knew how many hostiles just above them. “If we can bag the ship, fine. But I need to know we’re on the same page about self-preservation if it comes down to it.” he looked pointedly to them, waiting some sort of confirmation.

Stolen goods were no good to be smuggled if the smuggler was DEAD. That and the poor bounty hunter that had gotten roped along as well.

brows  lift  at  the  statement,  a  slim  smile  sliding  across  her  lips  at  the  air  of  challenge  about  his  words.  “  is  that  so  ?  ”  head  tilts  slightly  to  the  side  as  she  studies  the  officer  a  moment,  hands  moving  to  clasp  together  before  her.  “  and  what  makes  you  think  i  will  change  my  mind  ?  ”  single  brow  lifts  this  time,  curiosity  flashing  in  her  gaze  as  she  studies  him.  “  surely  you  have  more  pressing  duties  to  attend  to  rather  than  waiting  on  me  ?  ”  slight  smile  curls  at  the  corners  of  her  lips,  hands  moving  to  gently  smooth  down  her  skirts.  “  or  have  i  misinterpreted  your  importance  within  the  first  order  ?  ”  it’s  a  probing  sort  of  tease,  one  that  was  designed  to  test  his  reactions  to  her  words.
