It’d been a long week. The sort where each day itself seems to drag out into the timespan of a month, each second ticking on like an hour. The entire Galar region, thrown upside down, the undefeatable Champion overthrown by a kid on their first try.
Not that it didn’t mimic Leon himself, in his youth. Raihan still remembered the final match that he lost. Wasn’t the first loss, and certainly hadn’t the last. He was sprawled across the couch at his home, and tossing into the air an ultra ball. A repeated, slow rhythm, his eyes watching the rise and fall of the ball with disinterest. Playing on his TV was the news station, which was another interview of the new champion, and an overview of the dynamax fiasco that had suddenly taken over the region. He’d already dealt with that at Hammerlocke -- didn’t need a repeat.
He’s heard it all before. A never ended stream -- and every station was reporting it. He just didn’t bother to turn it off. And although his thoughts often turned inward to himself ( What was he supposed to do now that Leon wasn’t champion? He still wanted the title but did it have the same meaning? How could he beat a kid that’d defeated his greatest rival in a single, decisive blow? ) -- he found himself more concerned for Leon overall. If Raihan thought he was reconsidering a lot of his life, he could only imagine imagine what Leon ( Champion since he was a fucking kid ) was going through.
So it was with that concern in mind that he pulled out his phone ( for once, he had his notifications turned off entirely. There were only so many prodding questions he could take, damn ) and texted Leon.

Yo, Leo. Been a while since we just hung out. Seems like both of us are going to have some free time now, so

Wanna come over to my place? Door’s already open. I’ll even cook something up. We can chitchat about you being absolutely destroyed in that match.

Don’t get lost on the way here, cause I really don’t wanna have to go out and find you. AGAIN.
Alright, that might’ve been a little insensitive, but Raihan knew Leon could take him throwing at least a little shade. He was pretty sure Leon would come through, so now he just had to wait.
