Ever since getting out of the Realm of Darkness, even over a year later Aqua will still, occasionally, have bad dreams. Something about flashbacks, visions, sometimes when she tries to go to sleep. Nightmares, about phantom selves, and mirrors, and pitch black seas swallowing her whole. It's never pleasant, reliving those memories — those mistakes — but her mind refuses to let go. And tonight is one of those nights, it seems; she'd fallen asleep at a decent time, after a day spent training Kairi, but...
Sometime just a few hours after having gone to sleep in the first place, Aqua jolts awake, sitting up quickly in her bed in a cold sweat with a scream caught in her throat. Struggling at first to realize just exactly where she is, with her breath coming in ragged pants she glances around quickly in an attempt to gain her bearings before remembering: she is back in her room, in the Land of Departure. She is home. She is safe.
Though she can't tell what time it is exactly, a glance out her window at the star-lit sky above has her guessing it's probably later in the night. How many hours have passed since she fell asleep? Not that it matters; if the keyblade master knows herself by now, she knows that it will be at least a little while until she'll be able to get back to sleep again.
Climbing out of bed with a sigh, Aqua grabs a pale blue cardigan and pulls it on over her pajamas before slipping out of her room — in the meantime careful to be quiet in the hallway, so as not to potentially wake anyone else — and heading down the castle corridors to make her way outside. A walk around the castle grounds will help clear her mind; the cooler air outside will provide a brisk distraction of sorts. Keep her on her toes, so to speak. She's expecting to be alone out here—
She isn't expecting to see Terra sitting on the castle steps, and as she approaches carefully from behind, her footsteps light as they always are, she notices he's staring ahead absently while holding his wayfinder in his hands.
It seems her walk will have to wait.
"Terra." Aqua says her friend's name gently to get his attention before taking a seat on the steps to join him. "I didn't realize you were out here, too."
