honestly it sucks so bad that petra died, i guess it makes sense that they'd want to kill off a character who had some screen time/development for the impact but like... man... i miss her so much. i really and truly did think she was gonna make it to the end and be an important character.

and the WAY she died too was just 💔 i know it's not canon but in my mind, levi himself or him and hange went back to the forest later on and brought petra home for a proper farewell and burial, and after that levi never took anyone else again because he wanted petra all along and never got the chance to say it until after she was already gone.

yes i have watched that vid of their voice actors confessing in character and it lights up my soul and breaks my heart at the same time cause it never actually happened in canon.

thinking about petra being in pain from her back injury (because she survived and you can't tell me otherwise) and levi tending to her pain with everything he has and knows about, massage, teas, medicine, carrying her places, because he's devoted utterly to her

she always jokes that she can handle it herself even when she's gritting her teeth in pain but levi insists on caring for her <3

i have a really hard time coming up with ideas for rivetra stories, especially canonverse, but i think i have a small one i really like at last

so everything goes as it does in canon, the female titan attacks Levi Squad and all of them die, and levi's left with recovering the bodies (my memory of this part is a bit hazy because i haven't rewatched the show yet)

levi finds petra last at the tree, and he hesitates for the first time, he doesn't want to believe she's really gone, but he makes himself go to her, she's still and silent and when he touches her shoulder she lifts her head and levi realizes she's still alive

he shouts for hange and immediately assesses petra's injuries; it's really bad, her back and shoulder got the worst of it and she's covered in blood, but she can move all her limbs and focus on levi's face, one eye at least, levi realizes quickly her left eye isn't savable, but it doesn't matter, she's still breathing

he tells her firmly keep your eyes open, don't fall asleep, since petra's starting to slip away, and he says just talk to me, say something, anything at all, and petra's voice is so faint levi has to lean in to hear her say i've always had feelings for you, captain

she closes her eyes and levi just answers that's all you're going to leave me with? you have to say more than that, but he can't tell if she's conscious or not anymore and levi's heart doesn't stop racing through the hours it takes to transport petra and the other bodies back home, get her into the infirmary, stitch up her wounds and get her life out of immediate danger

it feels like forever until petra's laying on a cot, covered in bandages, remaining eye closed, and levi watches her all night, not sleeping himself, it's useless to try, silently ordering petra to wake up when she's ready, to not give up fighting

... that was way longer than i imagined but anyway, that's kind of all i have, the rest would be petra healing and adjusting and now that her feelings for levi are out in the open, after nearly losing her, they can say it now, they're in love, when the whole world is falling apart around them, they're each other's strength, their reason to go on 🖤🧡
